Did anyone actually join the Powder Gangers?

Post » Tue Jul 16, 2013 3:54 pm

In my Evil playthrough, I decided that I would help the Powder Gangers take over Goodsprings, but 30 seconds into my conversation with Joe Cobb, I couldn't resist stepping back and throwing a spear into his face, and then blowing up all of his compatriots in Vault 19, Primm, and the NCR Correctional Facility. I mean, it can be fun to play as the bad guy, but the Powder Gangers are just so... pathetic. They're a bunch of cowards and bullies and it grinds my teeth to even consider joining them. At least the Legion's leaders enjoy a good fight, even if they go about slaughtering/enslaving the weak and infirm afterward.

So yeah, did anyone join up with them? I don't have it in me to try.

I did it one time but didn't save. I just can't betray Doc Mitchell and his town when he patched me up and gave me a free handy-dandy pip-boy.

I did it with no remorse last run, on my Legion playthrough. Though, I didn't like killing Doc Mitchell at all and if you do help the Gangers take over, the town is made effectively worthless in my opinion.

Never have, probly never will. Goodsprings is good people and if any group deserves sympathy from the Courier it's them.

Why would anyone deny themselves the joy of annihilating the fairly large settlement of low-health NPCs that is the NCRCF? It's usually a highlight of my playthroughs, with or without the NCR.

If I'm going neutral/evil I always do it. Alot more fun then the other side of the battle. Plus everything if free afterwards and Chet gives you a discount.

The nicest thing I ever do for them is let them live long enough for me to go to Primm and take care of things there. Then, I will go back to Goodsprings and side with the towns people.

For the longest time I always did Ghost town gunfight before leaving the "perimeter" around the beginning area. After realizing that you can "infiltrate" the powder gangers without doing any evil if your speech is up to 30. You just do "I fought the Law" and use speech options to take care of the first two, and if you save beagle in Primm beforehand you can use a speech option to get info about the NCR raid from Johnson Nash without threatening him. Then you just side with the NCR and wipe the powder gangers out.

If you clean out the NCRCF without doing the quest "I fought the law" no one in game ever recognizes that the powder gangers got wiped out.

Wiping out Goodsprings is like nuking Megaton in FO3. You render what was a perfectly good hub of trade into uselessness.

Even my evil characters can see how killing good vendors would be clinically stupid.

I help out Eddie and his pack at the NCRCF, until I get the chance to back stab them later in the quest "I Fought the Law", and help the NCR retake the facility. Otherwise, I've never helped them in any other way, I always end up helping Goodsprings.
