Racemenu camera - can anything be done about it?

Post » Wed Jul 17, 2013 10:03 am

I've tried searching on several occasions and have been unable to find anything conclusive. The Oblivion racemenu camera has way too high of a FOV (it's what, 80-90?) for how close up the character is viewed, and the low angle is extremely unflattering. It's infamously bad for customizing faces and distorts everything. Dropping the FOV brings the face way too close so it's hard to get a balanced look at it.

Does anyone out there know what could even potentially be done with it? Just raising the angle, dropping FOV to 40-50 and pulling it further back would solve the issue, but I don't know where to even begin looking for a solution to it. Any mods that exist that I'd have missed in my search?

*kyoma to the rescue*

I know, I know! Um no mod exists as far as I'm aware butI know exactly where the camera is handled (in the game's code that is). Am also trying to discover how to alter the things you mentioned. It's more or less separate from the UI itself so a bit out of my area of expertise (I have no idea how it actually works). Will do some heavy lifting to see what each button does... :poke:

I think the FOV is 75, which matches the default FOV in the game, but I think that was a miscalculation on their part because it doesn't take into account how close the face is to the window and the window size.

It's especially bad when dealing with custom hair styles like with Ren's beauty pack.

I often have to zoom in and out and rotate to get varying view points and tilt. But yeah, it's not WYSIWYG, and that's very frustrating.

I've learned to make everything slightly narrower than I would normally like, and it seems to look the way I had in mind in the game.
