I think one of the game tips says if you put away your weapon your opponent may stop attacking.

I tried it a few times with out success, has this worked for any of yall and in what situation?

I've only really tried it on the odd occasion when I've shot a friendly NPC by 'accident'. It's usually worked then.

I don't think it works on mooks, I think it only works on named/important NPCs.

That's really the only time it should work (I think).
