started dawnguard thing, did the dimhollow after joining the club and have led serana back to her home at Volkihar. then, everything comes to a grinding halt -- the door will not open, serana has options but none to open the door, the doorman is of little help and I've made sure to leave my other companions ( yes - including the rabbit ) back in DR.......has anyone else had this prob? is it me or a glitch? any help would be most helpful as this dlc was NOT CHEAP!!!!

Try reloading a previous save. Sometimes thats all it takes. But no thats never happened to me. Ive had glitches in other quests like that, just do a quick reload and it works itself out. Try it.

I've done this three times now, and carefully noted how it goes...
You take the little boat across, and halfway up the long ramp she 'grabs' you with dialog.
She warns you about the weirdness inside the castle...
As soon as you are released from dialog, the (unseen) guy working the gate starts squealing "Lady Serana! Lady Serana has returned back home!"
And the gate opens.
You don't have to do or say anything...
I guess you have to walk beside her up the ramp and allow the game to 'grab' you with Serana's dialog.
Maybe if you run ahead or lag behind, it messes things up?
Always works perfectly for me though (with all the Unofficial patches in place).

tx folks....i'll give it a try! I did try a reload though and it did not seem to make any difference -- maybe i'll have to lose a few hours of gameplay. and yes, the gate to the antechamber opens ( If that's wot yoo mean ) but not the main door to the inside of the keep itself! where's that rabbit????
