Mother kills her two children

Post » Thu Apr 15, 2010 7:51 pm

Hah, i'd be damn surprised if we were here after another 3-4 hundred years.

There was a case like this here in Finland some years ago too, a mother drowned her two "normal" babies. I think she got few life-time imprisonments (we don't have death penalty here). Stuff like this happens, but you have to remember it is quite rare. And this sensationalizing media isn't helping things, it's shame there's no market for good news.

Is that incase she is re-incarnated?

That article made me sick. Granted you would think the same about me if I told you what I think she should be sentenced to...

i say give her life in prison, the death penalty is an easy way out.

Sorry, I must disagree. Life in prison is the "free-ride" the [censored] would live on mine and your dime. I'm sorry. The prison is already full of people getting "free-rides" they get 3 square meals, education, entertainment.

Put a bullet in the [censored]s' head and be done with it.

..it's shame there's no market for good news.
I've been saying this for years though. Have 'bad' and 'disturbing' news available, but not sensationalized on the front page.

People would have to grow a personal sense of distaste for such blatent "if it bleeds, it leads" reporting,
..and shun it. <- this is gonna take awhile. Not impossible, but it'll take awhile.

On a side note.

Is there any research as to why there are so many family tragedies these days, as apposed to say ten fifteen years ago?

I know that here in the netherlands it's about once every six weeks (stats say eight a year), and I know that it wasn't this many back in the day.

Is it the doom thinking, the environment, the failing economy, globalisation making people feel insignifican on a new level? What?

It seems that society is being wound up too tight (by the media and whatnot), and these tragedies are the frays in the fabric before it tears itself to shreds. But that would be my observation.

Fixed to my tastes.

Not much to discuss here - a tragedy for sure, but can the woman be held accountable if she's bat[censored] insane, as seems likely? I'll leave that one to the jury.

What exactly made you think this would make for a good topic, rmctagg?

Agreed.
Oh holy crap, that's depressing. Those poor kids.
I wonder if the mother suffered from undiagnosed postpartum psychosis.

She killed them because she wanted normal kids . . . and I bet they wanted a normal mother.

To be honest if i was the husband , i would not mind if they execute her or throw away the key but that's just my opinion. ( of course i'm not in the situation so i can't speak how i would feel at the moment )

To be honest, If I were the husband, I would have paid attention to the glaring signs of mental instability that led up to this.
People don't just one day go nuts, it's happens as a gradual decline.

For some reason, I never like these threads.

Yeah, me neither.

It is sad, tragic, but one yahoo article only gives people enough "information" to either figuratively recoil in horror and say so in a thread, or alternately, try and up their internet cred by making a wiseass toughguy type of remark. And I think both sides have been represented well enough, there is not anything more we can add - we know nothing about the real issues that led up to such a tragic action. So I think I can lock this now.
