I was on my way to Morthal and I went down a small waterfall and was infected with Sanguinare Vampiris when I landed in the water. A slaughterfish attacked me straight after I was infected and I almost died, I had 24 health left.

I have Serana with me but she does not have potions of Blood, so it is not that bug.
I was not already infected. when I landed in the water a notification in the top left of the screen said I contracted Sanguinare Vampiris.

luckily I had a cure disease potion with me.



Why do I always get the funny or weird bugs.

Hjaalmarch has tainted water. Them again, its the worst hold.

You can catch the disease only when fighting vampires or searching dead vampires bodies, not by entering a waterfall.

I havent been fighting vampires for about 6 hours.

The message was late then.

I caught rockjoint a few hours ago and cured that within 10 minutes. the sanguinare vampiris would have been cured too if I was infected then but I wasnt.

You likely caught if from Serana.

but how. she wasnt fighting anything.

You can't get the disease by searchign their bodies man. Not even fighting them alone will do the trick, you can only get it when they fire that health-draining spell at you.

Open the ck and take a look: you can get it by searching vampires corpses, woman.

That has never happened to me in all my 4,800 hours of playing skyrim.

Just remember : After handling dead vampires make sure you wash your hands before you eat

Something sensible to do after searching any body.

That Slaughter fish was a Vampire!

That injected it's vemon when you fell, and tried to eat you!

You probably caught it recently before due to Serana or something, but sometimes the effect cue get messed up due to too many things at once and the game suddenly realizes that you're supposed to catch Sanguinare Vampiris so it gives it to you. Falling into a waterfall is just a hilarious coincidence.

I killed tons of vampires, looted every one of them, I have never ever contracted the disease that way or any other than being hit by their spell.
