i need someone to please instruct me on how to play arena on mac. I have downloaded arena from the elder scrolls website. plus I have dosbox version 0.72 for the mac. what do I do next?

The free Arena release is a self-extracting win32 RAR archive. So you need to unpack it first to be able to play the game. Any program that can unpack RAR can unpack that specific exe file.

Also, I suggest you use http://boxerapp.com/ instead of DOSBox if you're on a Mac computer.

just a quick question. how do you make the game faster? I know you can increase the framerate on windows, so is it the same controls for mac?
