More Realistic Swords

Post » Sun Jul 21, 2013 2:50 pm

I'm looking for a mod that replaces the vanilla swords to make them more realistic. I already have Immersive weapons and I know about JaySuS Swords, but these mods merely add new weapons to the game. The goofy looking vanilla swords are still around. I'm looking for swords that look thinner, more like this:

and less like this:

I've done some searching but most mods simply add the weapons into the game, rather than replace vanilla ones. Thanks for your time.

There are only 2 replacements that I know of and that's for skyforge steel weapons and there's also a recently put out ebony sword replacer.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37645/? Ebony sword replacer

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/36815/? Skyforge steel the 2h swords look a bit to big but the 1h swords look similar to what you want.

Know this though my friend this game is based off Norse culture they preferred wider blades unlike the slim english blades so the weapons in the game are realistic not including the more exotic weapon sets.

might be what youre after? doesnt cover all weapons though. there are a few weapon retextures about making weapons look closer to realistic but i think this is the only one making blades thinner

Thanks for the suggestions even though they're not quite what I'm looking for. And as for nordic weapons being thicker? Yes, sure some of them were to a small degree. But even viking weapons were not ridiculously sized as in Skyrim. There is a point where things are out of hand. If weapons such as the Imperial sword existed in real life you would struggle to hold them with one hand. Many of the weapons resemble blocks of steel rather than crafted blades.

A quick search gave me http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8781/ wich ain't exactly the highest quality work, but it does do what your're looking for.

Edit: It doesn't cover all weapons yet, either.

Wow that looks great, I don't know how I didn't find that in my searching. Thanks, I'll check it out.

And I think its ok that it doesn't cover all of the weapons. It was mainly the lower end metal swords that bothered me anyway. The daedric stuff is supposed to look ridiculous and misshapen.
