Maybe I've simply forgotten since my last playthrough, but I'm not sure I've ever heard the death hounds bark.

I love the Dawnguard huskies. But I wouldn't take them adventuring because they are to weak. My Zoe took one home for her child, who immediately asked to keep it as a pet. My Mage took the death hounds adventuring, and now they are dead hounds. Death hounds don't bark.
