Pretty cool glitch

Post » Wed Jul 24, 2013 1:35 am

I can't believe I've been playing TES games for close to 10 years and I've never been on here before :stare:

So anyway, since I got the platinum on Skyrim I decided to start over so I could play from the beginning with the DLC.

I was doing the Thieves Guild quest line and something pretty cool happened. After I got the Falmer Eye and Skeleton Key from Mercer, Brynjolf and Karliah didn't leave the Waterside Cave. So, now I'm stuck with the Skeleton Key.

I made my way to the Twilight Sepulcher and saved it before I entered. I worked my way through the quest and got to the end. Everything went fine. I go back to the Ratway Cistern to be initiated as the Thieves Guild Master and Brynjolf isn't there. He's STILL in Waterside Cave.

So, I loaded up my game from the save and now I have the Skeleton Key permanently. Thank God for Legendary Mode. This'll make leveling up Lockpick MUCH easier.

It's the first glitch that actually benefitted me lol.

You don't automatically use the Skeleton Key when picking locks?

Another cool glitch I know of: when fighting a dragon priest at a dragon lair, always kill the dragon first. Why? Because you can hide into the skeleton if you have to much trouble with the dragon priest, he won't see you there. Looks like dragon priests have bad eyesight!

You won't gain the experience from broken picks anymore though. Also read somewhere that locks picked before won't count if you make the skill Legendary.

I've only seen one Dragon Priest at a dragon lair. Can't remember the name... begins with an "S" That is pretty cool to know though. I can totally duck in there to heal up.

That's true. But the experience gained from broken picks after level 35 or so is minimal. And I really hope that that second part isn't true. Kinda defeats the purpose of Legendary Mode.

I know.
Its just before finishing the TG I could pick locks without breaking any lockpicks. I still have the key but lockpicks now break.

I'm confused, I don't think I understand your point.

If you have the Skeleton Key you should be using it automatically. So if that's the case, how do you know your lockpicks break?

I used to be awful and picking locks. I'd go through 30 on a Master Lock.

The one I was thinking about is named Krosis, so that makes at least two of them. :)

I know the lockpicks break because I sometimes fail to pick the lock and the lockpick resets position and the number of lockpicks goes down. also I hear it break.
