Spam Smithing?

Post » Wed Jul 24, 2013 3:30 am

When the game first came out you could get Smithing up to 100 relatively quickly through Iron Daggers. Thankfully they fixed it.

Now it seems to take too long to level up. I just made a suit of Elven Armor, a suit of Leather Armor and 5 pieces of jewelry and my smithing went from 32-34.

Seems a bit underpowered don't you think? Oh, and the jewelry was 2 Emerald Rings and 3 Silver Jeweled Necklaces.

Is there a way to spam the smithing now?

EDIT: The Smithing skill is not in Legendary mode. This is a new character.

Smithing arrows got me to 60. Dwarven Bows did the rest.

Always have the best bonuses possible.

I had the Warrior and Lady Stone together with the Well Rested blessing for a 45% faster Smithing.

How did you get 2 stones together? I have the Lady Stone and the Well Rested Bonus.

EDIT: I think you mean the Lover Stone. Not the Lady Stone.

The levelling rate in Smithing is controlled by the value of the item being Smithed. My Mages can actually increase thier Smithing Skills faster than My Warrior by using Transmute and converting Iron into Silver and Gold to make Rings and Necklaces with Gems.

A Quest available in Riften gives a permanent boost to the rate Smithing can increase. For a Player with Dawngaurd, "Lost to the Ages" can give a player the benefit of two Standing Stones at the same time.

I was aware that the leveling was based on the value. I know Leather isn't valuable but the Elven Armor and the Jewelry were valuable and it just seemed as it was under leveled.

I forgot about the Transmute spell. I actually have a 20% investment in Magick so I can use that as well.

I'm not familiar with that quest in Riften. Do you know what it's called so I may look it up?

I also haven't started the Dawnguard DLC. Is "Lost to the Ages" a quest on the Vampire side or the Dawnguard side?

I just noticed somethig as well. I slept in my bed in Whiterun and I did not get the Well Rested bonus. This is not good. So it looks like I just have the Lovers Stone boost.

Yep, I meant the Lover Stone. I have an item from a Dawnguard sidequest that can give me two Standing Stones.

Edit: Lost to the Ages is just a side quest anyone can do, doesn't matter if you're with the DG or Vampires.

Go out to the Riften Docks and search for a female Argonian with a hide helmet. I think her name is "From deepest Fathoms".

And no, you can't have the Well Rested bonus if you have the Lovers Stone.

According to the Skyrim Wiki... you can't get the Well Rested bonus if you have the Lovers Stone active. Interesting.

But what if you activate Lover's Stone WHILE having Well Rested?

Quickest and cheapest way to level smithing is to get the transmute ore tome and make gold jewelery.

If Spam is withstanding the blow of a smith's hammer, I think it's time to throw it out.
