Western Tamriel Translated

Here is the http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/4788/w11v.gif, originally provided by the game Redguard.

This map has caused a lot of heartache over the years for its illegibility.

All locations, except for three in Yokuda, are now legible, with 99% accuracy with the original, leaving room for the occasional mistake made by me.

I accomplished this by closely examining Redguard's loading screens (acquired by me), and by using Arena locations (http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Locations_%28Arena%29, god forbid) and Daggerfall locations (provided by the UESP).

You may notice, if you know your locations, that some locations appear misspelled, such as Cespar, or Roseguard, or Chasetown. The spellings I have rendered are the correct spellings, as they appear on this map, not as they appear elsewhere. There is one exemption to this rule, and that is the Hammerfell settlement of Vulnim Gate. Looking at the map and the loading screens, it is clear that the location begins with an O or perhaps a C or G. But the rest of the name is legible, reading -ulnim Gate. This settlement is due north of River View, which is the exact positioning of Vulnim Gate of TES I Arena. So I have great faith that this is the same settlement, albeit with a slight spelling change, as is common with many of the settlements on this map.

Of the three locations in Yokuda, from top to bottom, this is my best guess by looking at the map.

Kardesh

Zansar

Svol'Yelir or Suol'Yelir

Enjoy.

Edited and Updated, thanks to LN for her description of the boxart.

Edit 2: Ditto above.

Edit 3: Missed Vulnim/Oulnim.

Valenwood has some oddly-named places. I had not noticed that before.

And most are original to this map. Diss appears in the 1st Pocket Guide, but Dissappears in the 3rd.

I have to say I love the rivers - Ooze and Spurt. :D Pretty much describes what we can expect. Not to be confused with the Strid or the Xylo, of course!

Pretty cool. I agree with Kardesh, not sure on Zansar--it sort of looks like the n could be an e to me, but it also half looks like ?.

According to the game's box, it's Kardesh and Sioul Yelir. That part of the map is slightly different on the box, though - the island's locations are moved around, likely to take up space in a pleasing way. There are also a few minor name differences between the online map and the one that's printed on the game materials. Ravan appears instead as Raven, and Asl'Yelir as Asil Yelir.

I edited my post above a bit. Looking over the map again, Vulnim Gate appears as Oulnim gate on the box art. I'll edit in any other edits that I see.

Edit: In High Rock: Marstern Moor (instead of Markwasten), Norvolk Hills (instead of Norvulk). Karnver Falls in Hammerfell is spelled with two Rs. That last Yokudan name is Zanzar.

Okay, all should be edited now (except Ravan/Raven, which I didn't care to change).
