Thalmor encounter while playing as an Altmer

Post » Fri Jul 26, 2013 1:18 am

So I just came across some Thalmor and decided to go talk to them. I thought it would be different because I am playing as an elf. I was wrong.

They think my Altmer worships Talos and they attack me.

I go to kill the last one and he says "Dont you see. Elven supremacy is the only aahhh." but.... but my character is an Elf. The Thalmor lost his head just before he could say "Truth."

Where they on Skooma or something.

As far as I know, there's a distinct difference between an Altmer and a Thalmor agent.... just like there was a difference between a German and a Nazi in WWII.

In fact, the parallels are quite remarkable.

Though Skyrim is a great game, a lot of people were disappointed that there wasn't more race specific dialogue. A missed opportunity for Bethesda I would say.

You're actually a Nord in disguise.

A Nazi will think twice before thinking that a fellow Aryan German is actually a Russian

I'm assuming that an Altmer would have more options, considering that Thalmor are all fellow Altmers

I noticed that paralell too.

Sadly, in-game the only distinction is in the thalmor embassy quest, an Altmer can disguise themselves almost perfectly by wearing Thalmor robes

Then there's

Spoiler
the random Thalmor encounter where a group of them show up with the express purpose of killing you. One even has a note that you've done something that goes against the Thalmor's plans. The only criteria for it triggering is that you're at least level 8. Being an Altmer won't stop it from being selected.

I know it makes me wonder about a few things.
