Mead for everyone!

Post » Mon Jul 29, 2013 4:16 am

I found a website where you can buy some real mead, so I thought, hey why not? Lets buy a whole load of mead! it costs a bomb, around £23 for two bottles (it's tha good stuff!)

It's totally different to what i imagined it would be like, but it's very nice! :liplick: I imagined that it would be like beer (how much the nords drink it  )but with a honey sweetness to it, nope. It's like a fine wine, maybe stronger? you can definitely taste that sweet honey taste, but it's a more flowery taste then rich honey. I'm definitely going to buy some more mead, extremely nice drink. And I can now see why the nords get royally pissed off the stuff, very potent indeed!

Has anyone else tried mead before? I'm interested to know what you thought of it.

Mead is pretty good.

You can make it yourself, actually. It's legal in most places to brew it at home.

Can you really? that's interesting, may consider it because it's rather expensive from the website. I wonder if home brewing it would be cheaper? cheers for the idea

There is different levels of sweetness to it. Some can be incredibly sweet, and there's also dry mead that barely does but you taste the other ingrediences in it more. And yea it pretty much is a wine.

I wait all year for our local medieval fair, for two reasons: sod the armour and the battle, it's the only time you can get pints of Skullcrusher ale and also buy bottles of mead for £8.50.

Why is mead in such low demand? Only places I can get it where I am in South Carolina is at this field where they grow a lot of different fruits depending on the season, and they have a sort of mini fair there, or at the flea market. Why not sell this along with wine? Although I guess I could have simply overlooked it. The bottles aren't what I'd expect them to look like.

Isnt it sort of like fortified wine (port or sherry type of thing) which might mean it takes quite a bit of brewing, though that doesnt seem a problem in Skyrim

I'm a "strict" liquor drinker, and have no taste for beer. I probably wouldn't like mead either.

...you know you've played too much Skyrim, when you all of a sudden become a fan of mead after seeing the Nords be so fond of the stuff.

It fell out of popularity for some reason.

It's a lot easier to make at home than almost any other drink, so I just make it every once in a while.
