Amd hd 6870 fix

Post » Tue Jul 30, 2013 8:59 pm

First let me say i purchased skyrim on the release date an played for many months oh high settings. My problems started with the release of dawnguard, every 20 mins i got ctd. When dragonborn was released my crashes started happining every 10 mins or so.

Proactively being a bethsda fan i started to hunt down every fix and to read every tutorial on cleaning skyrim and its save games. Three month in and i quit.

I got sick of people saying it could be my gpu, it could be my psu,it could be your ram or cpu ahhhhh.

After a few months of playing eardor i felt brave .

I cleanily installed skyrim with no mods i cleaned all the game again, but this time it was going to be diffrent i wasnt going to use mods.

How wrong was i crash.

I actually got to the point where i was going to chuck my pc out of window. i give up. Again.

The thing is i was quite angry, how many times do i have to post system req.

The intresting thing is the advice i got was from someone who dosen't play games(or uses the internet) any more. And this is what he said " when i used to play blitzkrieg it use to crash a lot so i played it in a window". My first thought was why iam talking to someone who stopped playing games on win 98.

When i got home i though why not. At least i can say ha ha it didnt work you relic.

The thing is after the first hour of no crash i thought fluke. Second hour passed and so did the third. I thought right skyrims messing with me because i want go to bed. So i turned up th graphics to ultra and placed my pc on the floor so the camera spinned around my dovahkiin.

8 hours later i arose from my slumber and switched on my moniter. The games still running flawlessly.

Most of my time in skyrim i have tried my best to not make it crash. Now iam really iam going to try and crash it.

I have one question though. I always excpected skyrim to use more resources running in a window than in full screen. In full screen the game stutters and lags. In fullscreen window it runs so smooth.

This to me isnt a fix ,its just a workaround, i wish i had some tech knowledge so i could actually fix issue. Maybe its the AMD drivers i just dont know.

All in all iam happy to be playing skyrim again.

Ps i run it now in a borderless fullscreen window.

Yes correct every 10 mins the game gets really choppy and slows down and then finally it ctd.

The thing is though in windowed mode it dosent crash at all and it plays so smooth. i actually think i should rename the topic it might not be a amd issue.

This problem only appeared around the time of dawnguard and dragonborn made it worse.

Also i wanted to know why it would run faster and without ctds in a window.
