(Hopefully) Flamewar-less Empire Discussion

I've noticed that The Empire since Arena has been in a state of decline. The Mede's taking over have made it seem like it will be dead soon. It's lost it's best warriors with Hammerfell and Skyrim (which has many more pro-Stormcloak NPCs than pro-Empire NPCs) and is hated by Morrowind. It only has Highrock and Cyrodiil as a part of it. I see no way it will survive for much longer.

My theory is that if the next TES is about the Thalmor and Aldmeri Dominion, the Empire will no longer be around during the game.

Do you just want our opinion on what is going to happen to the Empire?

Boring Option:

The Empire destroys the Thalmor and their former glory is restored.

Good Option:

The Thalmor collapse from within and the Empire dissipates. Tamriel is a land of free states with border tension all around.

Im all for the collapse of the Empire. Their presence on Tamriel has only fueled the schemes of money hungry nobles. Look at the Armistice signed by Morrowind.

Spoiler

Morrowind's Terms:

These were generally of cultural and religious nature and are as follow:

Allowing the Dunmer to define and preserve their own laws and customs:

Slavery and persecution of abolitionists

Local House guards and the Great House Law

House Wars and Morag Tong

Dunmeri religious practices are recognized as a faith by the Empire

Outlawing of necromancy (punishable by death)

Great Houses are given control over most local government functions

Vvardenfell is kept a Temple preserve

The Temple is given impunity to persecute religious dissidents and worshippers of the Bad Daedra

A general policy of noninterference with the Tribunal is applied

Empire's Terms

These were generally of economic and military nature and are as follow:

Morrowind is ruled by a figurehead King, chosen directly by the Emperor

Numidium is dismantled and secretly taken out of Morrowind piece by piece to be given over to the Empire

The Empire is allowed to have a constant military presence in Morrowind (including manned forts)

Mages Guild is given monopoly on all magical services

An Imperial charter is needed to deal with ore(Ebony) and dwarven artifacts

With the exception of Great House Law, Morrowind is governed under Imperial Law

Who's gaining here? All of Morrowind natural resources were claimed by the Empire, and I can only imagine there are similar treaties and stipulations for the other nations.

I just hope that the Empire manages to end the Thalmor threat, if they so happen to collapse afterwards, I'm fine with that

The Empire and other independent provinces face against the Aldmeri Dominion, defeat them once and for all, and save the day. After that, the Emperor has a heart attack at the after party and a new one is chosen.

The next TES game could be set pre-Arena. Who said it has to be in the future? :bunny:

Even Rome fell eventually. Assuming (and I believe it is) the world of TES and the empire more specifically, is based on them, wouldn't it be fair to assume that eventually it would fall as well...or at least the empire as we know it?

Personally I hope for either the collapse of the Empire, or that the Empire shifts northwards to the Nords(not a Tamriel wide Empire, maybe just the three remaining provinces, or just a Skyrim/Cyrodiil thing) for some poetic irony regarding the "Nords are unfit to rule themselves" deal that seems to be at the heart of the Imps clinging to Skyrim(the justification, not the actual reason). Flip the scrip and have a "the Imperials are too weak to rule themselves" thing going for a while.
