Makes no difference considering the way some people use it on the forums.

I never said we were prudish, just that we were screwed up! The fact that there's a lot of sixual content on TV shows (not even cable!) that can easily be viewed by non-advlts, but yet we put a lot of effort into monitoring things (like this game) that are way more benign goes to prove it.

six usually can not be shown on T.V or in video games unless say it is animal planet (seriously who is going to complain about a documentary showing two hippos having six?)

Or if you are planning on making the six scene obscure or once again unless it has something to do with animals (again, a hippo having six with a hippo is hardly offensive for obvious reasons)

First:

"sixual themes" refer to anything suggesting, implying, or referencing the act of Coitus.

So we have countless books in game (Lusty Argonian maid for example)
we have Dibella worship, and the bunk house in Riften.
in Dawnguard we have the fact that Serena and her mother were Given to Molag Bal at one point (who was once referred to in lore as "the king of ****")
we have that Necrophiliac Mage.

Shall I list more?

Second:

The ESRB is a self regulatory system, meaning it is actually run by game developers, so anyone saying its run by "over protective women" is minsinformed.

Finally:

I usually find that the people who complain most about games being rated M, who say stuff like "its not as bad as pay-per-view TV", are usually teens under the age of the rating the game was given, who Think they are mature enough for everything (and in some case they might be).

and then I think of when I drove up to Subway during lunch at work one week, and it was full of High-school Students Cussing, making "provocative jokes", etc.
those are not actions most mature advlts take part in, and for some reason Teenagers think that Cussing, drinking, smoking, etc. makes them mature, but they could not be more mistaken...

The Lusty Argonian Maid, most likely.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. It is essentially a play about regular household activities, polishing spears and baking bread.

Besides, it is not even original to Skyrim, but a carry over from Morrowind. If I recall correctly, the author of that play is a very considerate person, who even asks you to strip your clothes so he can see if you are fit and in good physical condition, before he sends you on the next leg of a quest. He must have studied medicine at some point. Sigh, there are no people in Skyrim, who would be equally concerned about your well being.

Wrong on my part. 52 years old and i still think the mature rating is idiotic. But then again I've seen a heck of a lot worse. Grand Theft Auto is an example and on Fable III you can actually choose to have protected or unprotected six. In a bed with obviious moaning. Now THAT I consider mature content, not this watered down TES version which isn't even in that leaugue. There is nothing in Skyrim I would mind my teenage children or grandchildren being subjected to. And the fact is that label had me expecting to see SOMETHING that would cause it to live up to its billing (And I'm not saying graphic six or nudity, something more on the titillation side). And there is NOTHING like that. The label is bogus IMO.

Likely.

And then there's a lot of posters who are like "HOW could this game get an M rating".

It's a game where you basically make your living by killing things. There are decapitations, torture scenes (not very explicit but still), and so on. Yes, there are more violent games out there. Games with more gore and graphic violence. But for me, it's pretty clear why this game is at least 15+, or 18+ (depending on country), and it's NOT because of the sixual themes, even though things like the books Celan refers to probably added to it.

"sixual themes" is added to the description even though it hardly was the main reason.
