Quick Reflexes - no need for armor?

Post » Thu Aug 01, 2013 12:28 pm

Hey guys,

First playthrough with the Quick Reflexes-Perk of the Blocking Tree, and I came to the conclusion that it renders Armor obsolete, especially light armor.

As long as I don`t get swarmed by more than four or five enemies at the same time, I simply don′t take any hits. My blocking is somewhat on lvl 55 now, armor still is 32.

What do you guys think?

What is your experience of the quick reflexes quick? More than a bit overpowered?

Cheers!

Quick Reflexes is definitely one of the best perks up there.

I think you do need armor, sometimes you just won't be able to avoid the hit, even with the perk.

Point is, it is becoming very difficult to level up any armor skill in a natural way.

Go find a mudcrab and stand still while he chews on your leg.

Or, stop dodging in combat against low level enemies. However, if your armor skill (and some crafting skills) are such that your armor rating is near or over 500 (max is like 567 or something) then you are pretty much as armored up as your going to be.

I agree. To be honest, I let the weaker enemies take a few shots at me to increase my armor skill.

It's only at high level bosses (Bandit Chiefs, Deathlords) or high level animals (bears and sabrecats) where I let Quick Reflexes do its work.

Quick reflexes is definately a bit OP, but I feel it's a secondary skill, lending the primary to 1H (or Magic if you're into that sort of playstyle). It takes a loooonng time to level up, so the payoff is definately worth it if you stay with it.

I personally really enjoy it. Try blocking (activating QR) and shield charge (run) at the same time. The controller layout is awkward trying to pull this off, but give it a shot. Specifically on a Sabre Cat that is bounding for you. Enjoy the lulz when you see it ragdoll end over end in the air in slow mo...love it.

Don`t get me wrong, but this is hardly "natural". I take roleplaying somewhat seriously and my character def. won′t stand around and take 100 mudcrab-hits just for leveling up a skill (and never did, not even b ack in the good old Morrowind days).

As I understand it, Quick Reflex only activates during an opponent's power attack. Sometimes the baddies don't power attack and sometimes it's all they do. Give it some time before ditching your armor, I don't think it'll get you out of every hit.
