incapable of creatingsticking with a character

Post » Thu Aug 01, 2013 8:50 am

ever since my first nord, i've had trouble sticking with a character. i've become quite torn between the supremacy of the altmer, badassery of the dunmer, and various attributes of human races... particularly nords because this is skyrim.

seriously don't know what to do anymore. i get to lvl10 with someone and start over. enjoy character creation far too much. cute breton girl vs. hardened dark elf vs. graceful altmer

wat do i do

Skyrim Blog is my first recommendation.

I started having this problem since the start of July. I had restartitis. I made assassins, mages, a lot of stuff really.

This time. I made a full pure warrior Nord. Before, I always used Alteration to increase armor rating. So I always only got the 1/5 in Heavy Armor. Never did 2/5, 3/5, and so on. Now I am.

swords are cool, but it's become my least favorite play style. magic and bows are much more fun/interesting

dark elves are seeming to be the more badass of all races, but the altmer are just so superior ughhhhh

No, no. I was just saying what my current character is (He's level 7 now).

Have you tried Illusion? It was very fun when I used it.

If you get illusion to 90, you can take the Master of the Mind perk which applies illusion magic to undead, automatons, and daedra. My illusionist is at 86 so I'm almost there. She's gonna visit holy hell on the various Dwemer dungeons as soon as she gets this ability (I've been avoiding them so far). Can't wait...

Sounds to me like you're not getting attached enough to your characters; this is where having a rich background story will help you. I second the suggestion to visit the skyrim blog. Since you like altmers so much, check out my http://theskyrimblog.ning.com/group/character-building/forum/topics/character-build-nogo-the-bow-singer?xg_source=activity character on the site.

Playing dead is dead (DID) is an interesting way to ensure you don't get bored. It gets you to treat each character with they're life in your hands & adds some great tension & a different approach to play, as you will be more cautious & not take silly risk's i.e as if it was your own life at risk.

It's not for everyone though

i have that issue as well TC so what i ended up doing was wiping all my PC's and starting a build from the skyrim blog to get me more focused and work on coming up with backstories...

I have the same problem, reason being I want to do it ALL, and play every type character possible, which of course isn't possible. I have finally made it to level 50 with one character because I made her pretty versatile. But i am always thinking ahead to the next character. I just love making them!

I'm actually experiencing the opposite. I've been playing my same single character since release and I am rather reluctant to start a new one. I still have plenty to do with the one I already have and I just like him.

I find that strict RP is a good way to make a character last. Otherwise, the only thing that differentiates your characters is their skill set or their looks, and that only holds your attention for so long.
Strict RP does have its drawbacks. It can mean missing out on some gear or opportunities that might be nice. For example, if you're playing an evil or reclusive type, then maybe you don't give two craps about who wins the love of that girl in Ivaarsted, eventhough the quest gives a nice Resist Magic buff that any character class can use.
But it pays off in the long run if you want to go the distance with your character.

why delete them? You could do what I do and have multiple characters that are completely different to switch between when bored.

Play as an Altmer barbarian. Heavy armor, two-handed weapons, no magic.

been there but I have to note that a "barbarian" wears little to no armor :P

I made an Altmer savage who sports a mohawk and wields an elven warhammer but no magic as he shuns the trixxy stuff

I have the opposite problem. When I create a character and play him for so long, I find it really hard to even start another character because I'm so invested in my original.

I only have two high level characters, and one lowbie.
