So I was thinking about Yagrum Bagarn earlier, and realized, for him to have survived well into the Third Era, he must have had some way to increase the longevity of his lifespan.
Let's just look at the timeline so you see what I'm talking about:
- The Dwemer Disappeared in 1E 700
- The First Era ends in 1E 2920, by then the Dwemer would have been gone for 2220 years.
- The Second Era lasts for 896 years, by this time the Dwemer would have been gone for 3116 years.
- The Blight, and with it Corprus, only start getting spread around 3E 427, even though Dagoth ur was said to have reawakened in 2E 882.
- The Nerevarine meets Yagrum Bagarn in 3E 427, meaning the Dwemer would have already been gone for 3543 years, making Yagrum more than 3500 years old.
Yagrum said that when he returned from an Outer Realm, he searched long for other Dwemer, but instead found the Divine disease, however, the Divine disease only surfaced in 3E 427, earliest 2E 882 if we assume Dagoth Ur immediately started spreading it after he re-awoke. Even if I'm mistaken and Yagrum did end up with Corprus shortly after he returned to Tamriel, it's safe to assume the disease would have totally transformed him beyond recognition by then, so I don't think that's a possibility.
This would mean Yagrum would have had to extend his lifetime some 3500+ years before getting Corprus, and while this is not entirely out of the question (Divayth Fyr is said to be over 4000 years old in Morrowind), it does pose some interesting implications.
So what do you think? I've never really thought about it until now, but looking at the timeline, it's pretty interesting to think about.
