A question about settlements of Skyrim.

Post » Thu Aug 01, 2013 8:23 am

Well, my question may seem stupid or is already answered, but I'm going to ask it anyway. In Skyrim, are there any known settlements of non-nordic origin, built by falmer for example? Because it would be a bit strange for atmorans to not use even a single town of their defeated enemy, the snow elves. If there are no such settlements, then I would like to ask about ruins. If nords for some reason didn't bother to populate or maintain structures of the conquered civilization, then I'm guessing a decent number of abandoned and crumbling buildings would be left standing. I remember that no falmeri ruins were present in game, but do we have any knowledge of them existing in Skyrim, if we take lore version into account? It may be worth mentioning that I'm asking of places other than Forgotten Vale.

There's the Forsworn, who have several ruins not-of-nordic-orgin. In Dawnguard there are some Snowelf ruins but mostley it seems the Nords destroyed all enemy settlements.

Windhelm was built by enslaved Falmer.

But I dont think thats what you mean

There arent any Nord occupied Falmeri structures.

The Falmer took over most of the Dwarven Ruins, so they don't have to build a city. However, they have their huts and pens and such in place, so I guess you could say that every dungeon that has Falmer in it is a Settlement of some kind.

I was talking about the uncorrupted falmer, not the betrayed.

The Dwemer ruins themselves count as "settlements of non-Nordic origin," I think. The legends say that the Falmer built with magic and ice, IIRC, so (if that's true and not just a bard's fantastic imagination) likely all of the Falmer "cities" melted after their retreat from the surface.

Does Sky Haven Temple count? It was built by an Akaviri (Tsaesci) organization on the orders of a Cyrodiilic Imperial government, but it's not necessarily a settlement, is it? I suppose if the temple counts, we can add the shrines to Azura and Boethiah that were built by refugee Dunmer after the Red Year--at least, I think the shrine to Boethiah was built by the Dunmer. I know the one to Azura was. And if the shrines count, the Skyforge probably does as well. Again, none of these are really "settlements," the shrines and forge less so than the temple. Is there anything else I'm missing? I haven't done as much exploring in Skyrim as I should have; I've been focusing on the main quest and the civil war, so I haven't really gotten far off the beaten track yet.

Oh dear, I had forgotten about Markarth. Sky Haven Temple is not what I'm looking for, the question was about populated settlements. :)

Solitude is basically an Imperial city

I wish it had a Nord design to it,http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7046/6877527293_bf0bfa9fa5_o.jpg
