All right, all right... time to update my mod list

Post » Sat Aug 03, 2013 12:45 am

So, I've sort of spent the last two years distracted by another project, and it seems that quite a bit has happened in that time gone. Fileplanet getting shut down, Megaupload getting shut down, new patch updates, and something about trollbone armor that I can't read because it's in British >.>

Anyhow, I've finally come down off of that sweet, sweet high and realized that I need to get back to work on other things. I've spent the last week or so giving my site a thorough spring cleaning/makeover, and now it's time to get to work on ye olde Morrowind list...e.

So, come one and all and give me your thoughts and suggestions about what on it needs to be fixed/updated (the link to my site is in my sig, for those who don;t know >.>) Let me just first throw out a few things that I'm already aware of:

? Yes, I know Fileplanet is dead as are most of the links pointing there. What I don't know is where all of this [censored] is getting reuploaded to, if at all.

? For the [censored] love of Celestia, I know that Megaupload is dead. Some kind soul here was nice enough to upload my BMS soundtrack to Dropbox, which is what I'll be using.

? I know that there's a new version of the MCP out, and I also know that Slart has finally decided to merge all of the known bugfix mods together. What I don't know is whether or not that includes Correct UV Rocks, which will need to be removed from my mod list if that's the case.

Anyhow, I've tried to make navigating the list a little easier by linking to each mod individually on the site's main mod index (in addition to linking to the list normally), so let me know if that helps or not. Also, the categorization of some of the mods is hard (I'm kind of iffy on where to put Vality's Trees, for example), so let me know if anything seems mislabelled.

Anyhow, thanks in advance, and it's good to be back around here.

http://mw.modhistory.com/ has almost everything from Elric and PES archived. And new (old) mods are still getting added all the time.

When was your mod list last updated? Flock of Seaguls? Birds man, Abot's birds.

Graphics:

The Animation Complication is fairly new, and fairly good.

Peterbitt has remade the sign posts, easily the nicest replacer for them yet.

I'm honestly not a fan of most of the items on your graphics list, except SWG's Skies, Canadian Robes and Oblivion Septims, to name a few. Westly's new heads trump Better Heads, Juib's armor trumps Darknuts, Better Meshes is better than Mesh Improvements.

I'm too lazy to go other graphics, but Knot's list is 90% the inspiration for my builds:

http://www.somethingfornobody.com/blog/morrowind-modding-guide/

Gameplay:

Django's dialog adds a ton of new Django to the game.

Abot's Stilt Striders and Boats.

Oblivion Style Vampires.

Added Content:

Welcome to the arena.

Undead Arise from Death.

Check out Keening Reforged.

That's all I have for now, the oven timer just "dinged," so I'm going to go eat the contents.

It's not that bad as long as you unsubscribe from all of the meme, religious, and political subreddits (they all svck). There are some really good smaller subreddits (/r/askhistorians is my favorite). There's also subreddit devoted entirely to redheads which sounds like it'd be up your alley...

YAY! Uncle BTB has awakened from slumber and The Ye Olde Mod List...e will be updated~!

About that trollbone: you were simply hoping I was Canadian so's you could make more jokes about bagged milk, the metric system, so-called "superfluous u's", and maple syrup! (BTW, you forgot jokes about Kraft Dinners, Timbits, poutine, how Canada names name-brand candy with knock-off names, the perpetually aggrieved Quebbies, Timmy Ho's Hoes and the Double-Double... whew! This is a list....e in of itself!-D

Ahem, my suggestions, since I still base my build on your original list...e:

1) MCP, since it has evolved from its original mission of fixing legitimate bugs to now improving the game to taste via Sotha Sil Hrnchamd's coding wizardry, deserves its own category.

It covers pretty much *ALL* of your catagories. (How on Sod's green Earth *do* you pronounce his name? In a Russian accent, fine, I can conflate consonants. British accent, I sound like I have suffered a stroke.-)

I suggest revising both MCP and MGE XE's threads, and getting in touch with Sotha Sil Hrnchamd if you have any questions. (Your *hilarious* commentary will thank you for it!)

2) Listen not to Wollibeebs about Darknut's texturing goodness!

His collection is true to lore, the most comprehensive, and if others find textures to overwrite them, bully for them!-D Better Heads should also stay until MacKom finishes his headpack, IMHO. Westly's textures are *most* brilliant, but the Anime hair kills it for me....

Anything with "PeterBitt" or "abot" as an author is a sure-fire winner.

3) I renew my earlier suggestion about inclusion of Moranar's Better Morrowind Armour, since, like Darknut's textures, it's *very* comprehensive with different options according to cuirass tastes, and uses stock textures to accomodate most textures replacers, like, say...Darknut's.

The only problem here is inclusion will require either the editing of your Equipment Plug-in (which you said you were in dire need of performing anyway) or whipping up a BMA compatibility patch for said Equipment Plug-in. BMA can be found @ Wolflore so's you don't have to direct players to Nexus, since you view Nexus in the vicinity of somewhere b'twixt Reddit and a site containing a "4" and common surname in China, with the same level of apoplexy reserved for people who decry "boobplates" and "Lizard Teats".-D

4) Better Bloodmoon Clothes PLUS.

It completes the BB-fying of clothing started by Psychodog Studios, continued by Bob Plangkye, and finished by Spirited Treasure.-D This can be found at GHF and Wolflore.

5) Moranar is also completing Better Robes, but it's still in Alpha status. However, most of the robes are completed, and quite frankly, surpass even Nioliv's meshes.

It can be found at Wolflore as well.

6) http://mw.modhistory.com/download-90-14107, in lieu of the Correct UV Rocks, should this be necessary. Does the same thing, but improved meshing, options, and modular plug-inless install (except one .ESP for cliff formations).. Also, Spirithawke is the go-to bloke for all things MMH, as he is the curator and supreme mod finder. He performs this capacity with both fresh dipped flow and ruthless effect.-)

Overall, your list...e is pretty comprehensive as a base from which to work, since you go out of your way to avoid mod conflicts....the point of your list...e in the first place. I say: Try not to re-invent the wheel, just tighten the bearings a bit.-D

The Canadians are just a lot easier to make fun of because they're accents are less sixy (British is top-tier sixy, right up there with Irish, Russian, and any Scandinavian) and their country is a hat.

I sneeze and cough at the same time.

Also, I kind of cheated on the categorization for the code patch by renaming "Bugfixes" to "Bugfixes & Utilities". Specifically, I'm trying to keep the most important mods (and utilities) in that very first category so it's the first thing you see on the page (this, by the way, is why the list proper leads off with the patch and then Better Bodies).

Anyhow, I'll start going over all of these when I'm at home and actually have access to a computer with Morrowind installed on it.
