Guilds must be a part of TES V, and there is no chance (I think), that guilds/factions/houses etc. would be removed. If anything, it will expand (I hope). Question is, which guilds will acutally be in the game? Fighters, mages and thieves guilds are a given, probably, Brotherhood, prehaps. Probably rival guilds as well, seeing as we are no longer in the heart of the empire. Factions? I hope.
for the record, a necromancer guild is on my wishlist.

There better be a dark brotherhood.... OR ELSE! :swear:
They really need to beef up what you can do while inside though. While following the storyline quests may be fun for a while, the fun stops after you finish that last quest. Then the guild becomes nothing more than a trophy to you and you ditch it for the next one. I want there to be randomly generated quests. By random, I mean that it makes up the quest using form lists.
Using Oblivion's guilds as an example:
Have the mage's guild send me to kill necromancers with the battle mages. (Form list to pick where to spawn necromancers.)
Have the thieve's guild send me to steal a randomly spawned object inside a castle. (Form list picks which item, and form list hides in a random chest/jewelry box)
Have the dark brotherhood send me to murder a randomly created character. (Form list picks first name, last name, stats, location, ai packages, and adds dialogue to a few NPCs to give player clues as to what that person does)
Never played the fighter's guild, lol.
The arena had the idea with those fights.
Obviously the dark brotherhood would be the hardest to randomize. Very rewarding if it does happen though.
lol
in a worst case scenario skyrim will have 3 sword types (short, broad, epic) , one armor type, a single nord character that YOU MUST PLAY, and 8 missions.

Actually, it will have 1 sword type (blade), one armor type (unarmored), a single nord male that you must play as, and one tutorial dungeon where you die in a funeral pyre at the end. Oh and it's a side-scroller.
