A Cabin in the Woods...

Question for your creation kit forum-goers.

I'm not looking ot make use of a mod (trying to keep it simple), however I would like to spawn a shack as a player home for my woodsman, nomad charachter. This would be similar to the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Crabber%27s_Shanty, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Anise%27s_Cabin, or http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Alchemist%27s_Shack. There is no interior loading cell, just walk in and walk out. I would also like to place a bed and maybe a dresser, lantern and a few barrels for storage. Real low key.

Can this be done with the placeatme command, as each building only has an exterior location code? If so, what would the command look like?

If not, what commands can I use? Will these items dissappear when I fast travel away? Will the storage be safe to store my items?

Thanks.

Um...To be honest, the simple approach would in fact be to make a mod for it

Unfortunately I do not know how to mod. It does intrigue me, but perhaps one day I will look into creating something. I would just like to know if it is possible with a few simple commands and what those commands would be. Woud appreciate any assistance.

I doubt it's possible without SOME bit of modding. If you absolutely don't want to, though, why not simply use of one of the last two? They both have a usable bed and safe storage.

There are also small mods like Hut-of-'kreath, another one linked below, or simply search "cabin" or "shack" at the Nexus. You'll find plenty of viable places, though they're pretty much all placed between Riverwood and Whiterun.

Thanks XubXub! The problem is those areas aren't where i'd like to have my house...I'm painfully specific about my playthroughs.

If I were to enter the console, and click on the shack and obtain the item ID....then go to the area where I want the cabin and type in placeatme itemid#....will this place the shack in the area where i'm looking?

Thanks.

This is a weird request because I really don't think you can conjure an entire cabin with bed, cooking pot etc into the game with a console command. Each item would have it's own code and how would you place them accurately?

There is a complete list of console commands available on various sites, so the short answer is to try it and see, but I really can't see it working.

And as XubXub says, there are various places to discover that you can use as a cabin to sleep and have safe storage. Hunter and fisherman camps as well.

However, if you are prepared to use mods, you can build whatever you want with Pocket Empire Builder. You can even plant a flag which appears on the map as "Player Camp 01" etc, and these camp sites will be permanent if you leave them there.

It has a slightly steep learning curve at first but is actually very easy when you are used to it. I built an entire stockade, with wooden towers, defensive wooden walls, blacksmith, stables, cooking fires and tents for my 15 followers. Huge gates with a dragon skull at the top, a compass rose with a tall tree stump with four dragon skulls on top, a ranger cabin with bed, enchanting altar, alchemy lab and loads of safe chests. Tremendous fun, almost a game in itself.

There are also survivalist mods that let you build a camp fire and pitch a tent to sleep in if you want something less permanent. Why oh why Bethesda did not let people buy tents, bedrolls and fur cloaks in Vanilla I will never understand, given the wilderness environment.

If you really want it in a specific place, post exactly where you want it and I'll make a quick mod to suit your requirements. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes (hopefully :) )
