I've got into the astral realm via the small portal in Midas' cellar, and I see a little island off into the distance, and the quest marker points there. I've got no idea on how to get there though, and the FAQ is gone.

My main goal here is to get a pure life essence, simply because Holy Hand Grenade.

Help would be appreciated, and if anyone has an alternative link for the FAQ, that would also be great.
