[REL] Distinct Bound Stuff

Distinct Bound Stuff
a mod by PeterBitt

This mod gives all bound items and creatures a unique, spectral and magic look.

All the bound stuff now is transparent and glowing, giving the impression that this are actually spectral incantations, not the real creature/armor/weapon.

All base textures are reduced to greyscale and received a alpha channel. The blue color is defined by the two glow maps, so you can easily change the color of everything by just changing these two files. Due to limitations the armor parts are not transparent like the other stuff, but the darker glowmap should lessen this inconsistency.

If you use the Ultimate Icon Replacer you can find fitting icons as a optional download on the Nexus page.

This mod is cleaned and most likely bug free. If you happen to find a issue, please post here.

This looks pretty interesting. I'm mildly surprised at seeing something so different from vanilla from you, Peter. :D

I think I'll give this a try and see what I think.

I am aware that some creatures are brighter than others, I am not yet sure if I like it and might change that in the future. For now it was very annoying to edit all those NIFs and it might take me a while to feel like getting back to this mod.

edit:
At least I am using only vanilla base textures  I am not even sure if I like it, but I thought it's nice to have a different look for bound stuff and somehow I like glowing stuff.
Would you think that summon spells in MW are actually supposed to beam the real creature to you, or is something like this mod reasonable from lore point of view?

Looks really nice! The new creatures in particular look great, I can see a lot of uses for those.

Thanks for sharing this, PeterBitt!

This is really cool. I'm definitely playing with this installed from now on. I like the way the Storm Atronach looks the best.

This looks great, Peterbitt! You've really been releasing some great stuff. I'm especially fond of the weapons in first person. Would it be possible to have a version that affected bound weapons and armor but not creatures?

Not exactly my cup of tea, but good job nonetheless.

Why is that? Out of curiosity.

I'm not a fan of the transparency on the creatures. Also, I think the blue looks out of place. I think it would be cooler to have bound weapons be slightly transparent with a magical aura (particle effects perhaps) around them, but they should still retain the dark coloring that they had in the vanilla game.

Maybe you might like Trainwiz's Bound Weapon replacer then.

I found that his replacer is a bit too purple and the particles aren't as subtle as I'd like. :/

Could probably tweak it easily enough though.

I always thought summoned creatures appear wholly, not as spectral. There's a quest in Mages guild, where a summoned scamp wreckas havoc and then there is the smuggler's cave http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Palansour.

Still nice work.

I don't mind too much. The vanilla bound weapons always worked for me.

Very well.

As for the look of summoned creatures, they should appear whole, as they're physical entities. However, I like that summoned creatures appear distinct in comparison to non-summoned ones, as it says to me that I'm not really using the actual creature I'm intending to summon, more of a magically-manifested copy. That's more intriguing than summoning a Dremora from Oblivion.
