PS3 crashes on New Game start

Post » Tue Aug 06, 2013 12:37 am

Ok, I have a major problem (unfortunately I bought Skyrim for PS3, haunts me to this day).

Haven't played in a while, I did not update when 1.5 came since I had read about the water bug.

But yesterday I decided to start over in Skyrim so I updated to 1.9.. and now I can't start a new game.

My PS3 freezes everytime I start a new one, at the exact same moment every time..

right after the horse thief on the wagon starts to panic because of Ulfric my PS3 just freezes, completely.

Can't do anything.. what the hell is going on!?

When you updated did you delete the Skyrim Game data and Skyrim Patch Data or did you just patch the existing installation?

I suspect you didn't uninstall so try that.

If i get this right, you actually played on a older patch for example 1.4, then updated to patch 1.9 but you get freezes if you start a new game.

Actually you start over - so you have nothing to lose.

Hmm, yes at first i would do what Prowler690 say:

Delete you game completely. (delete the skyrim folder completely)

Delete any autosaves as well (if any...)

Then delete your additional data folder if you have any DLC's installed.

---------------------------

Install you main game again and let it update with the 1.9 patch.

Then try again to start a new game, and give us some feedback what happens !!!!!

Actually, in response to Prowler690, I did uninstall before updating.

Since I had read about the update (and the 1.5 update) in advance, I thought it would be best.

Then, when it crashed, I uninstalled everything that had to do with Skyrim, again. This time I even deleted my older personal saves. I installed the game, again,

but it still crashed. That's when I decided to turn to the forum for help.

Mark41:

I don't have any DLC, but I'll check to see if I might've missed anything.

Thx to you both for answering!

Well, yeah, I've done all that three times now, and it's still the same. Since my latest post I've tried it one more time and I still get the same results. Unfortunately. :(

If that not works out you should consider to do a disk formatting.

----------------------------------vvvv----------------------------------------

btw, other games working fine ???

(So you have actually problem with skyrim only !!!)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  1. Put your skyrim disk out.
  2. Delete your skyrim main game again (skyrim folder) and all your saves.
  3. Switch your PS3 off, and unplug it from current (leave it that way for 1 hour)
  4. Switch it on again. (of course you do that...lol)
  5. If you have any fancy theme, choose classic instead. (Settings->Theme Settings-> Theme->original.

Ok then, its time to try the Recovery console.

Do the options 3 and 4.

3. Restore File System (Follow the instructions...)

4. Rebuild Database (Follow the instructions...)

How: http://www.semperthree.com/ps3recoverymenu.html

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After restarting your PS3 (after step 4.) put your SKYRIM disc and install your game.

Try first without patch and without internet connection. (Turn your router off)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am curious what will happen at the first sequence with the wagon.

If you have no problems (try putting all the autosaves off - from the main menu)

Play for 10 minutes and make a save manually.

Exit your game and install then the 1.9 patch. (So turn your router on).

After that load your save, and try to play...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WISH YOU LUCK !!!!!!!
