Individual Preferences in FO4

Post » Wed Aug 07, 2013 2:04 am

I'm sure Bethesda is busy at work planning, mapping, doing, and reading constantly and is going through dozens - if not hundreds of posts and replies a day!

So to help do my part I'd like to make this unofficial post and ask everyone what their personal preferences would be - assuming they're listening - for Fallout 4!

Pretend you're the creator, and you're late for a meeting, and you're telling the devs what you want in your game!

If you'd like to pursue that will more in depth details AFTER that post, DO SO!

I'll make an example post below!

Remember, late for a meeting!

Old and new guns. Earn upgrades. Same Story. Incorporate FO3/NV. Mods on consoles.

Now for the more in depth.

I want all the same guns as before - because that's what I fell in love with! I want some missions where I have to work for my upgrades, to my Pip-boy, my guns, and my armor! I want some I can buy, and I want some that give me bonus XP and some that teach me stuff! I want to continue the same story line, and I want to take place NEAR the same location and continue RIGHT where our fans left off. I want them to be able to turn on/off whatever they want BEFORE the game starts so they can continue where they left off, and they can even load in their old gamesave, disabling all achievements and whatnot (for fun) and give them MODS on consoles!! Of course they have to hit a game mode that enables it, turning off all achievements and whatnot..

Yo guys get the point..

GO!

"...ask everyone what their personal preferences would be..."
"...telling the devs what you want in your game..."

We have a thread for this already right here.. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1468694-fallout-4-speculation-suggestions-and-ideas-142/

"At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one. This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. "

I realize you're a newer member to the forums, so it's no big deal. It takes a little while to get the feel for the forums. Anyway welcome to the community here and I hope you get along with everyone.

This is just a summary based thread though, kind of like a way to skim through ideas rather than discussions, rants, and paragraphs.

This probably won't ever happen since consoles tend to have super strict rules about mods and just don't want them. Plus they would end up charging a lot for mods so there would be revenue for the companies.

There's ALWAYS a loophole.

Don't call them mods, just consider them changed in-game, for fun.

Black Ops did it, with letting people move at free will, giving them all camos, etc. Not the best, or most ideal example, but you get my point.

The problem with it is that instead of forge mode, you could change the game completely. This ends up where an T rated game could become something that would jump sky high on the ratings, such as the mods animated prostitution. Not to mention making mods on the xbox or ps could be very hard as it already is reasonably complex and time consuming to make a mod like PB or NVB, now anyone with experience would probably have to re-learn the coding (Forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm not experienced with the GECK) and it's already very obnoxious typing on consoles, so imagine the loads of dialogue, scripting and labels that would have to be made.

Bettering a game, and limiting the audience to a more mature audience? That doesn't sound too bad.

Next Gen consoles have already confirmed development kits will be a part of their systems.. Playstation is charging their consumers $2500.00 for use of their kit, while Microsoft has confirmed their development kit is free with the console. In fact they've already stated that mods are a very real possibility and that it's all up to the game developers themselves to issue the kits.

Bethesda has already made it clear that they will be providing support for mods on consoles as well. They had stated that the current gen consoles could produce mods, but that console higher ups did not allow third-party modifications. Since this aspect of their policy has been reformed to allow third-party modifications, there is no longer any question.

Lemme also say this is MY opinion from what I've gathered on their new policies and released news and that it has not been actually confirmed by Bethesda, so it the above should not be taken out of context for those damn internet articles that always take the forum users posts and twist them to their ends.

While limiting an audience may sound good, it can not only lessen the profit of the game, leading to future games not having as large budgets and risking not getting classification in australia or other places with strict rules.
