The New Pact

An RP by the Pompous Altmer, Hevnoraak and disturbing

To Rammel Acilibus, 1st General of the New Pact:

I'm sorry old friend, but the bureaucracy has finally caught up to our little side project. The Empire can no longer keep their secrets with these damned elves breathing down our necks. We both knew the risks and I'm afraid you're going to be taking the brunt of it. All support has been levied. No more soldiers and no more supplies. From now on, it's just you out there. If it was any other man, I'd say the situation is hopeless but I still believe that you can pull this off. If anyone, then you. Until then, you are no more. In the eyes of the Empire, you do not exist. Make sure to burn this letter after you're finished and good luck Rammel, the Nine know you'll need it.

With all due respect,

Apelle Calleius

After the Oblivion Crisis of 3E 433, most of Tamriel was in discord. From the ashes of the ruined Summerset Isles, a new nation rose to power: Alinor. As the the Empire struggled to regain its hold on Tamriel, the Mer of Alinor struck a decisive blow to the crippled empire. Less than Thirty years from their establishment, the Aldmeri Dominion had swept through Valenwood and claimed the region as their own.

Although the majority of the population of Valenwood supported the Aldmeri regime, resistance groups formed almost over night. The insurgency proved to be short lived as the iron hand of the Altmer descended upon the Bosmeri resistance groups and crushed all of them within five years. The survivors of the Aldmeri backlash went into hiding and were subsequently hunted down one by one. Valenwood was indisputably under Aldmeri control.

Roughly two hundred years later, following in the wake of the war that drained both the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion; a new resistance began to form in the thick forests of Valenwood. Economic inequalities between the rich Western half of the territory and the impoverished Eastern half, coupled with secret funding by the Empire led to the birth of a group of freedom fighters known as The New Pact. Led by an aging Imperial general and the Bosmer prophesied by the Precursor to bring harmony to Valenwood, The New Pact was born.

The Pact took the Thalmor by surprise. Many skirmishes were won and the New Pact led by General Acilibus and the much loved General Engear managed to claim many territories around the Cyrodilic Woods and the forested region of Silvenar. At first, the Aldmeri Dominion paid little heed to the forces of the New Pact due to the war in Hammerfell sapping up the majority of Alinor's resources.

After the failed assassination attempt on the Aldmeri ambassador to Valenwood, the situation for the resistance took a turn for the worse. Thalmor forces led by General Tarene cut through the Northern territories of Valenwood, effectively trapping the New Pact in the forests of Silvenar. Suspecting that the Empire had a hand to play in the resistance, the Thalmor issued an extensive investigation forcing the the Empire to cut off all support to the budding insurrection.

Alone and running low on supplies, the remaining forces of the New Pact retreat into the forests of Silveran to regroup and come up with a plan to turn the tables on the Thalmor. Meanwhile the same general who cut off the supply line for the rebellion is tasked with the order to march into the Silveran forests and end the resistance once and for all. Both forces lay in stalemate preparing for what will probably be the bloodiest war Valenwood has ever seen.

Your role will be that of a soldier for either side of the conflict. Whether you chose to join the Bosmeri resistance or the Thalmor counter insurgency is up to you. This RP will be less about the political side of war and more about the daily struggles of the soldiers out on the battlefield and the effects of the war on the people caught in the crossfire. Combat will be brutal and characters will die(with a PM notification first of course). The Pompous Altmer and I put alot of time, and thought into this so please do not join unless you plan to stick it out for a long time. We hope that with the help of the community TNP, will be a success.
