Interesting Fallout 1 & 2 connections to Fallout 3

Post » Sat Apr 17, 2010 8:03 pm

name some interesting fallout facts/history that connects to the Fallout 3 world. I will start

When Myron first encountered the Mordinos, they were farming peyote cacti and trying to sell it to tourists as the "Reno Experience". Unfortunately peyote trips are too long, and profit is generated by fast turn around and a high addiction rate. Furthermore the climate was far too ravaged and irradiated to grow most vegetable matter but the hardiest of plants, so Myron began delving in growing mushrooms. Hallucinogens have low overhead and thrive in plentiful brahmin dung. From there Myron began experimenting with derivatives of lysergic acid diethylamide and psilocybin and THC the active substance in marijuana (unknown to still grow). However the Mordinos still desired something a little harder and more addictive that could get them Redding. The solution to the problem came from the Brahmin fertilizer itself. protein extract was obtained and then corrupted. By placing the augmented Brahmin dung in large vats they could gather the potent drug they were searching for. (from fallout wiki)

yup, there you have it. Whenever you huff up some Jet in FO 3, take delight in the fact that you are taking in "enhanced" Brahmin crap vapors

Very good

Well Harold appeared in the three main games, though I don't really like how he appeared in Fallout 3.

the quest title " Who dare Wins " was the SAS motto after they neutralized the iranian terrorists who held hostages in the iranian embassy in the UK during the 1970's

One of the people killed by the ants in Greyditch was originally an Enclave soldier, and it's mentioned on his computer that he was originally from the Navarro base, one of the locations in Fallout 2.

President Eden mentions that he's studied all the presidents of the US, from "Washington to Richardson." Richardson was the Enclave president in Fallout 2.

Fallout 1 main quest spoiler :

Spoiler
At the end of Fallout 1, after having foiled the Master's plan and destroyed the Super Mutants vats, your vault's Overseer sees you as a threat for the other vaut dwellers since you could inspire them to leave the Vault. Something the Overseer doesn't want to happen. He seals the Vault and the main character goes back to the wasteland.

- Junktown in "Tales of Junktown" books stands for the town of the same name in Fallout 1.

I sort of like the backwards nature of the thread's title, heh.

I'd say it was more than a reference, it was the bargain-bin equivalent

The
Spoiler
tree in Oasis
says he was originally a soldier who got knocked out at a base called Mariposa and a small tree started to grow on top of his head (I've heard you can actually meet him in FO1 and 2) and he travelled here until he fell asleep and
Spoiler
woke up and the tree had completely taken over and rooted him to the ground

He's a recurring character in all three. First in Fallout he recounts quite a bit of the Master's history, in the second he's set up as kind of the mayor of a Ghoul community.
(the tree gets bigger each game).

The tree started growing only after Fallout 1's events.

He also was not a soldier. He was a merchant.
