Can I run New Vegas anyways?

Post » Thu Aug 08, 2013 8:44 pm

I used a site called can I run it, and it says I have everything I need to run it but one thing.

CPU Speed Minimum: Dual Core 2.0 GHz Processor or better You Have: 1.6 GHz

Everything else is green though Im new to pc gaming, and can't upgrade the processor.

I know this is stupid to ask, cause clearly the answer is no, but I was hoping I can get away with it...or maybe a suggestion.

Probably, but your game will likely lag on a regular basis, especially in areas where there are a number of creatures/NPCs. The AI for them will be the biggest hit on your CPU. The Mojave itself should be alright, it's fairly sparsely populated. I'd avoid any mods that rely on scripts or adds new characters to the game. The biggest hardware issue with the game is your video card. As long as that's OK, you should be able to play it. It just might get a bit sluggish in places.

The SR Labs website is a bad joke with a terrible low accuracy rate ("Can I Run It"). You can't trust what they tell you, particularly when it comes to video requirements, which those people do not understand.

Many laptops have two different speed ratings, and potentially offer far better performance when plugged into the mains for power. Your "Turbo Speed" is the rating you need to know.

What are the Fallout New Vegas system requirements?

Minimum System Requirements (VGAs corrected for Obsidian stupidity):

* Windows XP/Vista/Win7
* 1GB System RAM (XP)/ 2GB System RAM (Vista)
* 2.0 Ghz Dual Core processor
* Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 256MB RAM
(NVIDIA 6800 "GS" or better/ ATI X1300XT or better)
{Added my note here, the X1600 Pro & up really, and
avoid both the Geforce 6800 SE, and the 6800 XT}
* 10 GBs of free hard drive space

Recommended System Requirements:

* Windows XP/Vista/Win7
* Intel Core 2 Duo processor (or the equivalent AMD Phenom)
* 2 GB System RAM
* Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM
(NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI 3800 series)
* 10 GBs of free hard drive space
