[French->English] Rahj Sagas

Hello there,

I'm coming back to you because I'd like to share all the work I've been doing for Morrowind over the last 10 years... well, since it's out actually.

Yeah but what "work" have I been doing? Let me summarize the mod I've done (yeah, it's totally done and working!) before anything else :

  • Two islands each roughly as big as Solstheim. One north, looking like Lapland in spring, meaning lots of pines, some snow, hills and tiny mountains with two fjords cutting through. Not giving too many clues, there's a Youtube trailer below. Southern isle is tropical : palm trees, warm sands, sandgrass... Once again, trailer is available below. If you want to stop reading here, those landmasses are incompatible with Tamriel Rebuilt. But you may want to read the rest to see if it's worth a separate savegame, which I think is the case.
  • Those islands have as much in underground zones. North, it's mostly Skarogne, capital of the ratmen, over 76 cells. To summarize, it's almost twice as big as Mourhold plus Old Mournhold. Once more, an HD trailer is available below. For southern island, it's mostly many grottos, caverns, and a big burried, secret place.
  • About gameplay, there's more to play than in both the official plugins together, for sure. You will at least get 50 hours of playing (if you really know the mod) and easily 60 or 70 if you wander around. There are three pretty big main quests, six guilds, and many sidequests working together to make short stories.
  • Mod is lorefriendly and is linked to Morrowind, while building it's own lore. Thus, places' names fit Morrowind ones (such as a daedric city called Vansitirarpal or a dwemer one called Bthuchungleft) and no harm is done to the existing game. Some elements about Daedric princes are used to link things together. Rahj is, before anything else, Rottamers' mod (Rottamers are ratmen), and their raise around Vvardenfell : their society, their beliefs, their attitudes... French version has been acclaimed for characters' personnalities (among other things), usually worked on a lot.
  • There are new creatures, new elements, new weapons, well, new stuff. Rottamers' weaponsmithing is quite different from anything else and there's a trailer for you to see (even if in french). There are roughly 500 NPCs, much to speak about, much epicness... and many things a text cannot tell.
Some things for you to see :
  • A ridiculous try to make a proper cover picture : http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/780624JaquetteRahjSagas.jpg
  • Nice HD trailers (Southern isle, Northern isle, Rottamers' capital, Rottamers' weapons) : http://www.youtube.com/user/RahjSagas/videos
  • Some pics and proof that Rahj Sagas is out, tested and working fine in french : http://www.confrerie-des-traducteurs.fr/morrowind/mods/guildes_et_quetes/rahj_sagas.php
  • Main actors, Daedrargonians : http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/221198Daedrargoniens.png and Rottamers : http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/259442Rottamers.png

First quarter of Rahj Sagas was translated and is out at PES and Nexus. Yet you need to know it's been reworked since then, that the island is really not as beautiful as it's now and that 75% of the current mod wasn't included yet. Can give a taste, though.

  • PES : http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=9409
  • Nexus : http://morrowind.nexusmods.com/mods/41371/?
Now you see what Rahj Sagas is. Why am I here? Obvious : it's in french, it needs to be in english. It's a big work and even though my english is not too bad, it's not good enough for a mod. I'd need help. Not sure how to work together, proofreading or actual translating but we'd need to work together. I'm not crying for help though : if nobody's in, it means there would not be many people to play the mod, and so this wouldn't need a translation in the end. Just for you to know, dialogues exported to a .odt file gives 208 pages. Once that file is done, rest is almost nothing, a few hotlinks/topics testing with a full walkthrough and we're done. Items and zones translations is little work, scripts too, well... those 208 damn pages and it's done! It's big, yet it's nothing compared to the mod's size and the time it took to create as a whole, as I made 95% of it alone.
So let me know. I don't know if there still are Morrowind players around, this topic is here to see if it receives some interest and what we can do about it.

Lappland, Sweden? :D

I'm impressed over the amount of work done here, 10 years you say, wow.

I'll give it a spin if time lets me!

Have you thought about TESFaithing them far to the East?

Also, is there a reason why it's http://forum.wiwiland.net/index.php?/topic/50110-rahj-il/? Click on the "télécharger" link here and you get an error 404.

Hey, thanks for answering!

So yeah, I've thought about TESFaithing it, but I'm not familiar with the tool and at first, I didn't intend to modify the mod. Now if somebody helps doing it, it's ok, but I'm not sure how to modify the scripts in consequence... might be tricky! Well, not opposed to it, but not feeling ready to, either.

Rahj is not on Wiwiland anymore because they're unable to change an obsolete version for a newer one on trust basis. They wanted to test over and over every single update I made, they took almost a complete year testing Rahj II so I've moved it out of Wiwiland and reliable version is on Confrérie des Traducteurs.

Was more Finland at first, but whatever, same deal. :D

Hope you will check, so I hope you'll find some time. :)
