Selling Dwemer gear to Calcelmo

Post » Fri Aug 09, 2013 3:39 am

I got a letter from Calcelmo about how I found a Dwarven Battleaxe of Animus. However, I disenchanted it to learn the soul trap enchantment in the same room I found it in. Can I enchant a dwarven battleaxe with soul trap and sell it to him, or do I have to find something called "Dwarven Battleaxe of Animus." And what if it has one of the other names for soul trap enchanted weapons like "soul snares?"

I never tried that but he gives you [censored] prices anyhow; maybe it changes with a higher speech craft.

I bought a weapon from the smith in Solitude so I could unenchant it. No sooner had I bought it when Calcalmo's lacky was right there with a letter (dude is to all knowing if you ask me) So I went to Markarth to see how much he would buy it for. 500 coin. Really? I spent 2000 coin on it. So I unenchanted it at his table just to spite him. I don't even bother opening the letters anymore.

I had that happen yesterday, except it was Dwarven Boots of Hauling. Because my new character is using FT in the "prep stages", it went like this: Went to Riften, bought items to learn enchantments, including boots. FT back to house (tree house in Rift woodlands between Riften and Ivarstead), unenchanted them, did a couple of things, FT back to Riften to catch carriage (intending to go to Solitude) THEN the courier finally caught up with me. I kind of felt bad. He must have done some serious running, out there and back again trying to catch me. :D In my case, I just "called Daddy" and got another pair of Dwarven Boots of Hauling and took the carriage to Markarth instead of Solitude.

Hah! Yep, that can happen when a modder uses Dwarven as the base for a new armor. (I didn't buy any of that armor from the merchant - I just went there to see what was in it, then had Daddy order me the pieces I was interested in. I'm not going to pay good gold for armor I haven't even tried on!)

BTW - for those who are wondering - "Daddy" is using console commands on PC.

He wanted an Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow from me. I just went back to Ft Dawnguard, purchased another, and delivered that one.

He's scripted to ask for the first Dwemer Item you purchase. Just make sure that you buy a cheap one.
