Folks, I know this has been mentioned many a issue but I just wanted to ask on case someone has found a way round it

How do I get a follower to equip a superior bow or crossbow AND use superior arrows/bolts?

Im tired of all the 'set to default wooden bow' nonsense, there must be a way round this on Xbox

A follower will only equip a better weapon if the DPS rate increases. Unfortunately, this is not possible with standard bows. Froki's bow is one of the better replacements, as its DPS is high and it's strong. It's in Riften.

I've not played DG in a while to know the stats of bolts, but it seems highly unlikely the DPS rating is higher than a bow.

It's completely random. My followers only use their Wooden Bows, others claim they use other bows just fine.

I don't know the answer unfortunately.

I've had followers use a Dragonbone bow and arrows on 360. Maybe a glitch on your system or mine?

"Damage per Second". Pretty much how much damage a bow can do within an amount of time I think.

Damage per second. The stronger the bow, the slower it is to draw, which is why most followers won't carry a better bow.

and the fastest bow is frucki's bow?

I hate this bug. It was supposed to be fixed in 1.9 and I never had the bug until I installed 1.9

Fruki's Bow is pretty weak. It looks like a Long Bow just with an animal enchantment.

No, it's not the strongest, just the fastest non-standard DPS bow.

Playing on Master with a companion ... probably want to give them anything but a bow, but that's just my opinion.

Ah yes. I forgot.

I should also add: you can swap out stronger bows with companions, but it requires stronger 2H weapons. For example, you can give a Dwarven bow to a companion if they have an Ebony Battleaxe.

You'll need to visit UESP.net to read the stats of DPS on weapons to get a comparison on what weapons to change out.

Early in the game, however, this will be very limited. It'll take Dwarven gear just to upgrade to an Imperial bow.
