Bandit Camp Disappeared?

Post » Sun Aug 11, 2013 5:15 am

Between Helgen and Riften and almost due South of Pine Watch, there is a bandit camp next to a stream that gets enabled on the map when using Atlas Map Markers.

I've only been there once before, with my first character, many, many characters ago.

I had just discovered Pine Watch and a Dragon started fighting something in the general direction of this camp, looking South, but when I got there, there was no camp, no bodies, no tents, nothing. There was a dead deer.

That's it.

Has anyone been there and is it normal for there to be a bandit camp marked on the map with no camp site there? I distinctly remember fighting bandits there last time and it's a really good place for a camp site. There is a large, fallen tree across which one of the dead bodies was sprawled last time I was there.

I cannot think of any mods which could have removed that camp site.

Cheers!

I don't remember having ever seen such a camp. Did it come from a mod and could you have removed the mod from your game since then?

Oh sure, it's on the way to Angi's cabin. I've tangled with that bunch several time; they are tough. Don't know why you can't find them, the path from the main road is well marked and their camp is pretty near.

No, I don't generally use mods like that. And even if it were a modded "player home" thing, it would not get marked on the map by Atlas. Atlas adds 200-odd additional locations that you can normally discover but don't get marked on the map in Vanilla. And then it adds hundreds of optional extras, like Inns, shrines, temples, wilderness oddities etc. It would not mark something that is not usually there. The game says "Bandit camp discovered" and you get the boom! sound effect and the map marker, but there's nothing there.

I do have Pocket Empire Builder, which I can use to build campsites etc, but it would not delete a camp site.

It's as if a patch or mod has accidentally disabled every item in the camp and the whole thing has disappeared. I'll have a look in TES5Edit.

By road, it's East-ish of the place where the bandits have a load of rock fall traps en route to Falkreath. Further East, before you get to Helgen, there is another bandit camp.

But it's almost due South of Pine Watch, which is a cabin or house of some sort. The door was locked as it was night. So, next time you pass through, have a look for me?

Right by a waterfall near the path to Ancestor Glade? It's in my game (no map marker though), I remember finding it just the other day.

I do remember a camp on the path to Ancestor Glade, perhaps that's the one you're talking about. It's across the road from Lakeview.

Edit: Next time I'm in the area I'll travel farther south and look for one off the main road. Pinewatch I've done a number of times and have the Lakeview House.

There's a skill book in the camp, which is in the center of the map http://www.uesp.net/maps/srmap/srmap.shtml?locx=-6284&locy=-85130&zoom=17

That's the one! I haven't installed the DLC, so I don't get Ancestor Glade.

First time I've been to Angi's Cabin, though, so I got some good training in.

But what has happened to that bandit Camp? I DO have Immersive Bandits and immersive Brigands installed, but I am sure they are not so immersive that they actually pack up and move camp!

Chasing a dragon or wild deer I can understand...

The camp wasn't there once. It was during the quest for Hircine.

So it can disappear? Was it part of the quest?

I have very few quests active as I'm paying a Bard and only level 14. I've been travelling round playing at taverns and inns.

It's POIPineForest33, -2, -21 in Tamriel World space.

Out of my 140 mods it's only edited by

USKP

SkyTEST

SkyBirds

SOS The Wilds

I'm on the Xbox so I have no advice regarding mods but perhaps that's the root of it? Regardless, there are plennnnnnty of bandit camps so don't sweat this one being absent. As far as I know, it's not part of any quest. I just ran across it during general travel/exploration. I don't believe they have any great loot, either.

Well, that's not really the point. If textures and meshes are disappearing wholesale from my game, I want to know why. And the camp has a copy of Lunar Lorkhan, which is pretty significant. I just wonder if there is an activation trigger somewhere.

It could well be due to a mod, but USKP edits a tree or something. SOS The Wilds and Skybirds add sounds and birds and I suppose SkyTEST adds an animal spawn. Out of the 140 mods I have, none of the others touch that cell at all.

Oh yes, there is a lamb running around that is labelled as a deer! That would be SkyTEST.

Cheers!

Good luck troubleshooting. I'm on the Xbox so all the wonderful mods are out of my reach...

The map is excellent. If/when you get DG AG is on that road. I've seen the hunters camp on the way to Angi's Cabin but never got to her place as I didn't know of its existence. I must have walked right past the missing camp though, as I said I never noticed it or just didn't go off the road to see it since I was fixed on my objective.
