Im in prison now for the quest and I talked to the guy by the fire who said that guards come in once a week for the ore we mined. do the guards really come in and if so what time? because i really don't want to have to break out with the forsworn. thanks

The guards don't come in in game. You don't need to break out with the Forsworn, if you kill Madanach you can take his key and escape alone. That's what I did with my latest character. You can obtain Shivs which use less stamina but I just picked up two pick axes and duel wielded them. Or if you are a mage it will be easy, whichever spells you would use against any other enemy.

Edit, a nord going into Cidnha mine killing a member of a group that hates nords with a pickaxe. I should have taken my wife(Sylgja) there for our honeymoon. I'm sure she would have lkiked a chance to swing a pickaxe at a member of a group that hates Nords, being a Nord with a pickaxe.

They never do. The quest is meant for you to break out with it without them.
