Is Skyrim worth buying again for PC?

Post » Mon Aug 12, 2013 3:06 pm

I'm probably going to buy a gaming PC at Christmas. I love Skyrim on my Xbox 360. Do you think it is worth buying the game again, so as to experience it on the PC with mod support? Also, are there any ways to transfer your saves from Xbox 360 and convert them for usage on the PC? I'd love to continue with my Dunmer character is all.

TES has always been superior on PC. If you're getting one, there should be no reason for you not to get it.

I believe you can use your Dunmer. I have little knowledge about this transfer stuff, but you need USB Drive.

I've done quite a few quests with him. He's a Level 40. I'm attached.

Do you think it's worth buying again? Does Skyrim have any truly exceptional mods?

Depends if you like Steam or not. I would love to have Skyrim on the PC but I hate Steam.

Oh and yes. Xbox 360 saves can be transferred to the PC. I know the process since I've done it before myself to have a friend use console commands to fix up a few things in my main save.

You have no idea how worth getting this game for PC really is. The mod support is fantastic and nearly limitless. I would suggest getting the Legendary Edition as it comes with all the official DLCs.

Yes you can transfer both PS3 and 360 saves to PC without modding your console. Here is a video tut for 360 to PC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjxEzjw6qk0

Skyrim has an amazing modding community. I can only dream of saving up for a PC.

Yes it would be worth buying again, but as Semperfiman550 said get the legendary edition.

Depending on what the rig you are buying can handle, their are even some Mod's that add more quest's and areas. Not to mention all the armor's, Graphic enhancers etc.

If you want to make sure your PC can run Skyrim go here. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri It's not always the most accurate but it'll give you an idea of where your PC stands. ...ohh also run it on Firefox.

I don't need to run it, because I know my laptop can't run Skyrim. Once I get a gaming PC though, it will most definitely run Skyrim.

You might be surprised. I guess waiting for a powerhouse would be best though.

It's totally worth it. I played Skyrim around 3 months ago only on my PS3, then i got a gaming PC and bought Skyrims Legendary Edition for PC, and I did never look back.

For me, yes, most definitely. For anyone else, I can honestly say no, not worth it.

There are so many brilliant, fantastic mods both fanmade and official which improve and in some cases radically changes the game itself.

I don't even use fanmade mods though.

For me, oh yes, for anyone else, no, not worth it.

Only if you can afford it.

Run what on Firefox?

@OP : Yes and Hell yes to both questions. I built my rig and Skyrim was the first thing I purchased. Forget about the nonsense talking down Steam. As far as an online game provider, Steam is fine. However, I didn't care for the autoupdate at all, but that's no longer an issue. Besides there are ways around that.

Now, I will protest against getting used to that Workshop, for mods. You need to get away from that in the very beginning and at least use Nexus Mod Manager. Then you can later graduate to Wrye bash. But... if you are PC savvy then you could possibly take on WB out of the gate. Nonetheless, NMM is quite simple and very viable to moderate your mods.

So, yes... Get the PC version, transfer your old saves, use the Nexus for your mods.

IMO of all the Elder Scrolls games, Skyrim is the one that has the least need of mods. I think that vanilla Skyrim is just fine as is.

Vanilla Skyrim is great, but it is much, much, better with mods.

PC, Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) and Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) all the way. There are helpful tutorials for SKSE on YouTube.

Potentially, you will have a more immersive and enriching experience with Skyrim depending of course on your mod selection.

Top tip: Play the Vanilla game for a few hours on PC before adding your first mod so that you can visually or sonically compare and contrast the enhancement.
