From getting a water chip for the vault to destroying the master and getting a GECK for a tribe to getting a GECK again to supply water to the wasteland and do dealing with a egotistical business man a band of demented Romans and a big bear armed with a service rifle.
I keep seeing things about the common wealth here and there and that got me thinking about a being a character from within the common wealth... which is somewhere in Massachusetts… New England… maybe. Anyway there in the Commonwealth are two big factions the Institute and the Railroad. The former makes androids, synthetic human beings, and the Railroad sets them free or tries too. You have the Synth Retention Bureau that recovers the androids.
Having said all that here’s my idea. The Institute, this highly advanced place is building an android army to conquer the wasteland. Think about it androids are the perfect soldiers they question nothing and feel nothing. Join the new empire or die by the cold hands of a synthetic soldier. But the actions of the Commonwealth suggest that there is an outside influence having a major impact on their day to day operations. It’s a little odd that the common wealth would want to step up android and drone production and burn community after community to the ground (that is if those communities refuse to join the new “Empire”)
The Railroad however is aware that something is going down and they’re doing their best to stop it. They consist of freed synthetics and people (Followers of the Apocalypse, Brotherhood yes Brotherhood maybe an Enclave person here and there who want to do what’s right) it’s a rag tag gang trying to do the right thing. They know that whatever is going down will heavily rely on the android production facilities to be destroyed along with the Institute.
I have four options for a character here.
One: Being a member of the Synth Retention Bureau. You’re on a recovery mission looking for Android 71359 your recon vehicle gets destroyed and you have to hoof for a bit until you find it. You eventually find 71359 and learn of the things that are taking place. Aiding the Android by getting it to the Railroad safe house takes you on the path of resisting the Institute and being a good guy. Reclaiming the Android makes you a bad guy and you’ll be working for the Institute.
Two: Being a member of the Railroad and trying to rescue Android 71359. You can either rescue the Android or bring the android back and join the Institute you have had enough of resisting you’ve seen the light yada yada you’re evil now.
Three: Being a mere citizen of the Commonwealth the child of a well to do family with a lot of power and influence in the Commonwealth. Your family doesn’t really take sides in matter but do what they can to help out the Commonwealth. Your family is respected by practically everyone. They aren’t super rich and super famous they’re nice a family that has some pull. As the child (son or daughter) you can aid the Android to escape (can easily be done) or lie to it keep in a room with hope of escape and then letting the Reclamation forces getting it.
Four: Being the Android. Escape to stop the evil regime or do nothing and fight for the Empire.
Each Character will be alone until accompanied by a companion if they choose.
I would like the Commonwealth to be a place that has been rebuilt and looks nice and squeaky clean. I’ve been waiting to see something like that forever in a fallout world a place that has wiped the dust away and is no longer a wasteland. But to still have the wasteland to go into and do what we fallout players do best. Blow people away and be the ultimate badass and change the world in a humble way without the world knowing who did it.
This is just an idea. But I know that some of you are a lot more knowledgeable than I when it comes to these things. I know the world has been obliterated but the thing about humanity is that we bounce back and sometimes we tend to repeat out history … for better or worse.
And why I’m at it (I’d like to see vehicles used as well or at least a horse or something and for love of all that is great a way to play pool nine ball or eight ball doesn’t matter in fallout to make extra caps on the side)
