So after stabilizing and making my game the way I want it to with mods and such one last time, I decided I'm going to have one more character. And I was going to pick something I've never done before - Sword (ok, Axes because I like them better) and Board + Restoration Paladin. However, one thing has been bugging me; what Dragon Shout would a Paladin use?

Most of them don't seem something a holy/righteous or practical crusader would use. The only candidates seem to be Unrelenting Force and Whirlwind Sprint - all the others would seem to be too dark (Marked for Death, Dismaying Shout etc.), useless (Kyne's Peace, Ice Breath vs. Undead/Vampires and Dragons etc.) or come too late in the game to be useful (Call of Valor, Summon Dragon etc.). I don't believe any the DLC shouts would be helpful either (especially not the Dawnguard ones being that they're all for soul-ripping/summoning the undead).

Become Ethereal would be good as well as Elemental Fury (if you use unenchanted weapons). These are my picks for a sword & board character.

Kynes Peace would be good as I don't see a Paladin wanting to kill the forest creatures.

So, there are quite a few Shouts a peaceful warrior would use:

Animal Allegiance

Aura Whisper

Become Ethereal

Clear Skies

Disarm

Kynes Peace

Slow Time

Throw Voice

Whirlwind Sprint

All of these can help in battle or just out in the world to avoid battle. A Paladin could even call on Shouts for help during battle by calling a Dragon or the 3 Amigos from Svongarde, or using Storm Call.

Ice form, slow time, unrelenting force, elemental fury, become ethereal (definitely feels acceptable for a paladin), fire breath imo for undead (say its akatosh's holy flame or something), and I think thats it. It depends on how Paladiny you are. My characters are pretty much only paladin in build. Axe and shield, block, heavy armor, restoration. Also enchantment and smithing because they're awesome. He does defy daedra when he can and avoids missions like Boethia's shrine, but thats more on principle of worshiping [censored] bags who think they're better than he is. He's a "grey" Paladin, so using dark shouts like soul tear doesn't bother me. Is there such thing as a Dark Paladin? Outside of Yugioh anyway? lol

Mythic Dawn could be considered Dark Paladins.
