validating files(steam)

Post » Wed Aug 14, 2013 6:18 pm

Hi

I am having some problems and is just on one game and could be why im not getting my achievements, when I validate skyrim files I keep getting 1 file error so I press ok and steam downloads this 752kb file I go to validate again and same error and downloads that same file again??

I have installed from my cd and I have downloaded skyrim from steam servers yet still get this error.

does anyone know what is going on?

I was told when putting a steam support ticket in that skyrim problems have to be posted here so hope one can help me.

There will always be one file that fails to validate, it is nothing to worry about and happens with the majority of steam games as it is generally a local configuration file. It should not prevent anything like steam achievements being applied, that will be from another cause, not sure if steam applies achievements when launching through SKSE for example.

Most likely the file is either a temporary file or a log file. Simply ignore it.

If you use the console then you cannot earn achievements for the entire session. You'll need to quit the game in order to regain the ability.

Hi

Thank you for the reply's I have just started getting my Achievements popping up after I downloaded skyrim from steam servers(strange that they will not popup on the disc install)

Thank you for the information on the file yes it could be that as it has not done anything to the game.

No I don't use the console but with the level bug on enemies some times I wish i did.
