Dialouge box not working.

Post » Thu Aug 15, 2013 2:58 am

Hello,

Coming to you guys with another problem! The dialouge box will not come up when you press 'E' in game. I am using a custom NPC with a custom voicetype. I have recorded a placeholder .wav file in the CK. The sound saving path is correct. (to my custom voicetype in my directory) My NPC is also set to use the the correct custom voicetype. Also it is a quest dialouge. I have none of the stages ticked Start Up Stage or Shut Down Stage.

The first dialouge topic in my branch has the conditions set to

GetIsId Actor:aaTGSorananTheJourneyer (correct NPC)

GetStage: Quest 'aaTG01' == 0 (the player has never met the NPC)

The quest is ticked Start Game Enabled and Run Once. I just got done generating an SEQ file using the tutorial on steampowered. I put it in an SEQ folder in my data folder. I used the launch properties way. It did not work after that.

I am at a loss as to what to do. I have no idea what else to try. I've search google a couple times for fixes.

Thanks in advance!

I've launched Skyrim and from the main menu used the console to load the cell and went to talk to the NPC like that. No luck.

but did you start a new character?

if you were even in the cell before you added the npc can cause problems, i had allllll kinds of problems with this.

if its not that, its one of your aliases not filling.

there's a way to check in the console, i forget it though. double check your aliases, make sure they are reserved or not if they're supposed to be.

Ok, I'll check that out in the morning. I'll have to see about the aliases as well.

What if I would delete the actor out of the cell, go into the cell in game and then leave the cell, replace the actor and try it? I would think that would theoretically 'reset' everything?

SGE do not care if it's a new character or old one, as long as it's a clean save and a SEQ is present.

Open the console and enter 'SQV YourQuestID'. It will tell you if the quest is running, what stage it is, and if any aliases failed. That will tell you if it didn't fully boot up, and thus the dialogue is not running.
