So, I was just exploring Solstheim for a bit and eventually ended up in a small island at the far north east of the map. Two spriggans attacked me and after I looked a bit around I discovered these:

No, it's not a glitch. They are that big.

I'm sure it's not a glitch, because i also found them on my PS3 version of Skyrim a while ago.

IIRC each one you pick counts as 3 in your inventory for a total of 18 on that small island. I actually believe its an Easter egg of sorts as there is also a dead alchemist there with a journal. Look around and your bound to find him.

I found the dead alchemist but there wasn't a journal near him.

I was surprised too when I first saw them. I believe the place is called "Giant Nirnroot Island". Unmarked location of course.

Hmm, I could be wrong but I thought I found a journal; gonna have to check it out.

Oh did you search the little boat? It may have been on that? If not than I may jus be mistaken. The boat is on the eastern side of the island, has an eastern empire trading emblem on it I believe.
