Any easier way to add collision to statics yet?

Post » Thu Aug 15, 2013 10:47 am

I've been working on a mod for a while now, but I'm still held back by the fact that I can't fix the collision for a central building that I need.

I've followed http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/Skyrim/Adding_Collision_Mesh_using_ChunkMerge to the letter, but no matter what I do, I can't get ChunkMerge to work with anything I give it. http://i.imgur.com/yselow0.png, which it currently lacks (making it unusable in the Creation Kit even without collision). I have a http://i.imgur.com/yu0aHue.png, and I've used the http://i.imgur.com/VEBU3ex.png (along with many others) as the collision template. But without fail, when I try ChunkMerge http://i.imgur.com/OnN3MUU.png.

Also, in the time it took me to write this post, I received http://i.imgur.com/DPEcLuy.png with absolutely no input from myself into the program, it just happened on its own. Gone are the days where everything used to just work it seems...

use the Barrel02.nif

i couldn't get chunkmerge to work either until i found that nif for the niftemplete.

I have been working on moveable statics and unmovable statics in 3ds max, which i have successfully gotten to work w/o the need for chunkmerge, but its only for convex shapes, so things like architecture, stairs, any thing that the character walks on or is complex and requires specific collision. Chunkmerge is the only thing you can use, its the only option.

edit: i should add that chunk merge works perfectly once you use the barrel02 nif. you'll like the collision it makes

If you use 3ds, I wrote a tutorial over at TES Alliance

oh btw, you should be using MESH DATA and NAME OF TRISHAPES on this pic

you should be changing the trishape name to what MATERIAL you want to use, there is a list on the chunk merge tutorial page you linked. You gotta go thru that tutorial at least 3 times before you get it. its written very specifically. there isn't much qualification on whats really important and whats not, so you have to take it all in as very important or you'll miss something
