Problem with running modded Oblivion

Post » Fri Aug 16, 2013 11:41 pm

I am using Darnified UI, BOSS, and Wrye Bash.

http://pastebin.com/TQDhE6Rq When I go into the menu after creating my character, my face is black, and if I click on the map, all text and GUI goes black. And my character model gets messed up too. http://i.imgur.com/N4c4jWm.jpg

Even without going into the menu, after a few seconds, the world and camera will either freeze (leaving only the tooltip and compass unfrozen) or go black, leaving only the HUD.

I tried removing all the mods, but the same thing happened. When I removed the SKSE plugins as well, the game crashed right after the Bethesda logo. Other people have had similar problems in the past that were fixed by using Bloom instead of HDR. But that didn't do anything for me.

First, don't remove mods from a save, that only hoses the save. If you made a save after removing the mods, delete that save slot.

Did you toggle the Archive Invalidation?

I've been creating a new save every single time. I don't know what you mean but I've ticked a BSA called ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa in Mod Organizer.

Uncheck it, close the Mod Manager, then open up the Mod Manager again, and reselect it.

Note, I don't know if you have to close this between unchecking and rechecking it, some managers make the INI changes right away, some do not.

If this does not sort it, then look at the read me for the body and head mods you have, and see if they have what needs to be added to the INI files. Also, this black skin can occur because of a load order issue, or a incorrectly installed mod, or using the wrong combo of face and head mods, or your using incompatible Head and Body replacers.

I just tried that but it didn't work. I don't know what mods edit body and head, the one I know that does doesn't have a readme. The black face actually doesn't happen in the character creation screen. I provided my load order so someone could just tell me which mods to look at.

I would provide the complete file list as provided by Mod Organizer but it's 2.5 MB and that is too big for pastebin.

What you need to do is uninstall and reinstall your mods, making sure to install any mods that affect the UI or the player character's mesh/textures in the correct order. That's going to include DarnUI, TheNiceOne's mods, Kyoma's mods, and the Character Overhaul mod.

If you use Wrye Bash, you should be installing all your mods with BAIN.

Again, I believe your issue is with installation order, not load order.

PS -

HrmnsOblivionScriptOptimizationv1.0.esp - Drop this. It masks problems without fixing them.

Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp - You don't need this unless you have a problem.
I doubt the Elder Council will play nice with other mods in your load order. I think it conflicts with OOO, and I can't imagine it doesn't conflict with Better Cities, unless you have a patch in there I missed.
I hope this helps you.

What's the right order? Because with Mod Organizer I think I can actually change the installation order (because the mod files are in their own folders rather than put right into the Oblivion directory). Other than Darn which was installed with an omod and which I might have to find a way to reinstall.

With Wrye Bash's BAIN feature, you can control the installation order as well. That is what I would suggest.

Another concern - Is your game installed outside of Program Files?

The problem is I don't know what order to put them in.

You must add it manually to Oblivion.ini if it is not there already, read supplied documentation.
