Does SpellBreaker really block all damage?

Post » Fri Aug 16, 2013 11:18 pm

I was wondering what is better. Daedric Shield with 40% more block and 20% magic resistance or................. SpellBreaker?

Also: I have 100 shield and armor with all perks.

Edit: actually, my testing shows the Daedric is better, buy maybe I'm missing something.

Spell Breaker.

Sacrifice some melee blockage to make most spells completely harmless.

Spellbreaker - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Spellbreaker

It negates up to 50 points of magical damage.

The Ward is reset every time the shield is raised, and the shield doesn't need to be recharged with Soul Gems.

The Ward appears to be of particular use against Dragon Breath attacks - holding it up fully deflects the breath of even a Legendary Dragon without buckling.

Based on just that I would assume Spell Breaker unless you use the trick for 100% Magic Resistance.

Wards block *ALL* magic attacks (not enchantment attacks) until it breaks.

And the Spellbreaker projects a ward.

in all actuality spellbreaker is only good for negating 50 dmg per spell. it works well on stream spells in which there is a dps but against powerful 1 hit spells such as a spell dealing 150 dmg in 1 hit it isnt as useful as a fortify block and magic resist daedric shield buffered by the restoration potion exploit.

I think the elemental perk, 1 resist magic enchant, and the alteration magic resist perks to be the better option. I don't like being confined to just 1 version of a shield.

Also to the guy above^ with the ebony shield. Most resist dmg enchants are capped of and won't go higher than 85% anything beyond that is dead weight.

The only problem with Spellbreaker is that you get nothing if you're not actually blocking. A normal shield with a resist enchantment will be active as long as you're wearing it, not just when blocking. The Spellbreaker is good though, no denying that.
