Solstheim, some quest map markers do not appear

Post » Sat Aug 17, 2013 10:58 am

I've been playing Skyrim Legendary edition without much trouble and my map markers always appearing. I've been using the unofficial skyrim patch and the drain vitality bug fix for about half of my play time. My game is auto updated by steam. I did check the version number and it is the correct one for working at least with the most recent unofficial skyrim patch. I'm in Solstheim now and am encountering problems. Most of my quests are not appearing on the map. The two that are appearing are the main quests: "Return to Captain Veleth"(quest:March of the Dead) and "Reach the temple of Maraak(quest:Dragonborn)." The ones not appearing are miscellaneous quests such as "Search for the treasure of Haknir Death-Brand" or "Return the Folio to Cindri Arana in Raven Rock." I tried turning off the drain vitality bug fix. Did not work. I tried older saves, markers still not appearing. Then after some searching online I downloaded the most recent various patches and copyied them to the proper folder. I've also tried validating the cache on steam for skyrim.

My order of mods loading is:

Dawnguard.esm

HearthFires.esm

Dragonborn.esm

Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp

Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp

Unofficial Heathfire Patch.esp

Unofficial Dragonborn Partch.esp

Unofficial High Resolution patch.esp

I'm still having the same issue. Can anyone help?

Why do you have the Hi Res Patch if you do not have the Hi Res textures?

Are they active in your journal? Both the Miscellaneous line and the actual quest listed inside Miscellaneous?

Those (and some other miscellaneous quests) do not have map markers.
You're supposed to use the ol' noodle... y'know?
Kinda like the good old days, ie. Morrowind.

They tell you about a shipwreck, and you can clearly see it just outside of town...
2 + 2 is 4 in my hometown!
The other one, you must refer to the Treasure Map you are carrying.

I just read the blog of my friend (and Skyrim modder) Giskard.
He is ranting about what he calls "white arrow fever", how players blindly follow the arrows without thinking.
And how they're lost when no arrows appear (like in his mods, where they do not).
He's besieged by requests for 'tech support' heheh, from players who are lost.

An unanticipated byproduct of this is that players suspect their games are broken when no white arrows appear...
