What's your ending slide idea?

Post » Mon Aug 19, 2013 9:39 am

So we have a bunch of ending slides for things and that's dandy, but what about the characters, events, locations and quests which did not receive ending slides depending on the choices in quests and the main quest faction winner? What is your idea for their ending slides?

It's very simple, mention a character, a "faction", a location or a quest and what their different ending slides would be as well as what the prerequisites for said ending slides. It can be something short or something long if you want to, but don't just write one ending slide, write all the possible outcomes.

Also, regardless of your feelings towards a faction try to keep things morally grey, so no pitch black bull crap for the Legion endings.

Doc Mitchell

Run Goodsprings Run completed with Doc Mitchell dead.

Spoiler
Doc Mitchell's body was buried in a shallow grave after the firefight, the remaining residents of the area grew to hate the Courier with a passion for helping raiders take over their town, and although Mitchell stood up bravely for the town to defend it he too was cursed by the hateful masses because he saved such a violent (wo)man. His name went down in history for Goodsprings, but as a villain rather than a hero.

Ghost Town Firefight/Run Goodsprings Run incomplete, Joe Cobb still alive, finish the game.

Spoiler
Because of the rising tensions between the Powder Gangers and the town of Goodsprings conflict was inevitable, and right around the mark as the war for the dam broke out Joe had had enough and entered the town violently to take Ringo. Unprepared for this some of the citizens, Doc included, tried to defend against the surprise attack but failed to protect Ringo. Doc and half a dozen others died and were left in shallow graves as the remaining citizens had to prepare themselves if another attack broke out.

Ghost Town Firefight completed, NCR won

Spoiler

Ghost Town Firefight completed, Caesar won

Spoiler
After the Legion entered the Mojave and brought their culture with them Doc remained in Goodsprings but cautious. He had heard of the brutality of the Legion from retreating NCR personnel and feared that more was to come in the weeks to come. However, because of Goodsprings remote location the Legion rarely stopped by and when they did it was only to check up on things. The doc settled down after a while as attacks on the town were far more rare, wildlife were kept at bay by patrols and the legionnaires didn't bother any of the citizens more than they had to. Though because of this his clinic suffered from a lack of income and he eventually had to close it down and move on.

Ghost Town Firefight completed, Lanius won

Ghost Town Firefight completed, House won

Sure is a lot of 'Good guy Legion, Bad Guy NCR' in that Caesar ending slide. Also, if you side with the Legion, most of the town flees out of fear of Caesar, your ending is too Legion loveydovey. So much for moral greyness. :spottedowl:

Quarry Junction cleared - House

House buys the quarry from NCR and uses them to maintain the damn and New Vegas.

Quarry Junction not cleared - House

NCR abandons the quarry, allowing House to send his robots in to reclaim it. Several are torn apart but he is successful and uses them to maintain the damn and New Vegas.

Quarry Junction cleared - NCR

NCR uses the quarry to maintain the damn and the streets of New Vegas and surrounding areas.

Quarry Junction not cleared - NCR

NCR sends in first recon to take the Deathclaws out from the cliffs above (duh). Ditto above.

Quarry Junction cleared - Ceasar

Same as NCR, but with concrete statues of Ceasar everywhere

Quarry Junction not cleared - Ceasar

After several legionaries die immediately upon entering the quarry, Ceasar sends in Lanius. Lanius kills every death claw with his bare hands. Ditto above^

Lanius

Ditto above^

(The last couple CL ones are kinda but not really a joke )

(Also though I wanted to, I couldn't think of a good reason any of the factions couldn't clear the quarry after the war)

Just a little note Wasteland, if House wins, the NCR is pushed out of the New Vegas region, IE back to the Mojave Outpost. He wouldn't need to buy the quarry from them.

Are you sure? It was always my impression they stick around the Mojave just not around New Vegas.

No it isn't.

Pointless rant caused by me mis-writing a portion of my Caesar ending:

Spoiler

All it says it that the NCR is retreating, that doesn't make them bad guys, I was going to write that they were fleeing but decided to go with retreating as fleeing would imply that NCR are cowards.

And the Legion aren't portrayed as loveydovey either, they check up on the town every once in a while and keep wildlife out of the roads, just like they do normally.

Finally, while it doesn't say that a large portion of the town flees the Goodsprings ending slide does, so why does mine need to further state it? If anything the lack of injuries implied with this slide as well as the "a lot of people fled Goodsprings" in the actual Goodsprings ending slide goes well with the whole his business is no longer needed and he had to close down his clinic and move on.

I don't portray NCR or Legion as bad guys or good guys. NCR retreats as they lost the battle, Legion does what it does and keeps wildlife off the roads as well as exterminate any raider/outlaw activity as they usually do, but they also still use slavery and have very brutal punishments for people that step out of line. The moral greyness is not about the Legion or the NCR but rather the outcome for Doc Mitchell with the Legion winning.

Or do you think that I have to write in atrocities whenever the Legion is mentioned as if it is obligatory? My focus will be one other things with the Legion to make them more morally gray but that doesn't invalidate any of the atrocities they did and still do in the game and other ending slides, though quite frankly we already have enough content to see those things so why bother rehashing [censored] we've already seen/heard.

I'm not going to do what others will likely do and beat a dead horse even more when it comes to Legion.

Such as what WastelandShadow did with his Caesar slide. (Statues of Caesar everywhere? Really? I mean really? Not rebuild Vegas to fit more in with his roman image, not strengthen deteriorating structure, but statues everywhere? Like I said, beating a dead horse (Caesar's blown up ego). Doesn't matter if it's a kinda-sort of-maybe joke, it's still beating a dead horse that negatively portrays Caesar. How about he used the slaves he gained from the Mojave to work towards refitting Vegas into a rome-inspired city? That way his fixation with rome and use of slavery is still a negative aspect but he does rebuild the city instead of just duct taping it which is a positive aspect.)

The Mojave is a big desert, Vegas is only a fraction of it, but yes, the NCR is pushed out, or at least their military is. The NCR is TRYING to take the Vegas region but is in a stalemate with House and friction with the Legion at the beginning of the game. They're trying to put Vegas under their boot basically, so they're more an occupier than fighting on home soil.

Too much ranting, don't care to explain now. But going 'He had heard of the brutality from retreating NCR personnel' is a stretch of the imagination.

Stretch of the imagination?

By the way, any idea if Doc knows that Vault 21 has been sealed in?

Oh wait wait wait, now I get it, I didn't mean it like that, I mean this:

"He had heard of the brutality of the Legion from retreating NCR personnel and feared that more was to come in the weeks to come."

I didn't mean that he had heard of NCR's brutality, I meant that he had heard of the Legions brutality from the NCR who were passing through Goodsprings on their way out of the Mojave as they retreated from Vegas. Sorry, I mistyped.

Maybe. I think that bit in the beginning about him knowing how it feels to lose something is about losing Vault 21 to House so he was probably around when they sealed it up.
