Absolute Pacifist... Or Kill Everyone?

So I've been thinking for a long time about doing a full playthrough of New Vegas as an absolute pacifist... but the idea of a complete psychopath Kill Everything run appealed too. So I've decided to do both simultaneously, playing both through from the start with the 360 Ultimate Edition.

Naturally, these are big projects, so I've been brutal with the editing, getting hours of gameplay down to short videos, focusing only on interesting bits.

No Kill Run;

  • No killing any living thing (human, animal, abomination) or any robot
  • Companions also can't kill anybody
  • NCR-victory is the goal
  • I also want to complete as many quests as possible

Being a total pacifist (at the same time as chasing every quest going) is a fascinating way to play New Vegas - you're constantly under-fire, under-leveled, and needing plenty of skills to be very high, very quickly in order to avoid conflict.

The run will be, hopefully, interesting and insightful, even for people fairly familiar with New Vegas (I've sunk hundreds of hours into New Vegas, so hopefully I know my stuff), and a fun new way to navigate the Mojave.

Kill Everything Run

  • I'm playing on 360; no Mods, so I won't even bother attacking children
  • If I see it, I have to kill it. However, I don't have to kill literally everything in the Mojave
  • Naturally, Yes Man is the only route available

This isn't a straight bloodlust run, to be clear - everybody has to die, but I'll be picking them off quietly and in a good order if I can figure one out, though I'll be killing quest critical characters before doing the quest if the rules demand it. I'll be stealth killing as much as I can, but even then, it's only a matter of time until the first all-out brawl against an entire faction...

Honestly, this run is just great fun to play, and hopefully great fun to watch - it completely breaks the game; NPCs casually refer to characters who are dead, the morality and reputation system isn't sure what to make of you, and random characters go hostile on minute, and completely ignore a pile of corpses the next.

Incidentally, I also don't have a plan for this. I'll be making it up as a go along, having a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, I can't link directly to the videos from here - we're manyatruenerd on Youtube, the first parts of both are up already, and we'll be alternating updating each run every week.

I don't think it's possible to be an absolute pacifist. You would die way too many times, and most quests require that you kill something.

While being a total pacifist would indeed be a challenge, I say go for it. I think it could be done if you know what you're doing. As to the kill everone run, it's not something I personally would do but I think you should give it a go and see what happens. Good luck! :cool:
