Hello, people of the Elder Scrolls Lore forums! I used to bum around here a while ago, and I am happy to be back. It's wonderful to be able to dive in and discover the surprisingly deep lore that Bethesda has crafted for TES. Like many of you, I was disappointed when I learned that no more DLC would be crafted for Skyrim. I was shocked and sad because not only would the Civil War be left in its (thematically and practically) unfinished state, but many of Skyrim's stories would not be resolved. Given such great mods as Falskaar and Interesting NPCs that offer new continents and wonderful, voice-acted characters, I think its time that we do something about the hollow sense of Skyrim's meta-story (beyond the dragons, dragonborn, and vampires): that being, the threat of the Thalmor and the Civil War.
There are two mods that I would like to see come to fruition, and I need your help to make them as sensible and ensure that the stories are as well-crafted as possible. The first would see the King's Moot and the election of the High King of the available Jarls, and the second would see the Dragonborn go to Cyrodiil to prosecute his war against the Aldmeri Dominion. While these deviate from the lore a great deal (seeing as none of the Jarls could be High King, given the choice the players are allowed to make causing a split in the timeline), I think it's a part of the story that ought to be told and offers a great amount of material for questing. I'd like your help in...
1) Making sure that quests and storylines make sense within the greater lore of Tamriel
2) Plumbing the depths of the lore for the changes wrought on Cyrodiil since the time of the Oblivion Crisis
3) Creating important characters and defining their motivations to be logical within Tamriel (Titus Mede's son... Aldmeri generals... Talos cultists in hiding... Etc.)
The first mod, the King's Moot, is the easier of the two. Find some voice-actors that can mimick Jarl voices and create two quest lines. As I'm a fan of Morrowind's style of letting the player choose many options within a quest, the Dragonborn could pick any of the powerful Jarls from the Imperial side (Elisif, Balgruuf, or Maven), or take part in the power struggle between Ulfric and the wealthy Thongvor Silver-Blood. I chose these Jarls because they seem the most likely to vie for the throne: Maven and Thongvor are wealthy and power-hungry, Ulfric is obvious, Elisif has Imperial backing, and Balgruuf is the Jarl that spent the most time with the Dragonborn. I'd like your input on this. The Dragonborn travels around Skyrim, currying favor for his chosen Jarl. At the King's Moot, after the vote, the Thalmor try to assassinate the Jarls and the High King. A united Skyrim is a strong Skyrim, and a strong Skyrim is a strong Empire (in the case of Imperial victory in the Civil War) whereas should Ulfric win, they'll just be taking advantage of Skyrim's independence to try and take down another one of those Towers that hold up the World (as I understand it, the Thalmor are trying to bring about the apocalypse and they do so by destroying the 'Towers', one of which is located in Skyrim, possibly the Throat of the World). Whatever the case, you stop the Thalmor and the new High King reinstates Talos worship, realizing that the Aldmeri have no plans for peace, and decides that the Emperor needs to be sent a message not to trust the Elves.
The second mod, Dragonborn in Cyrodiil, would be far more ambitious, adding in the province of Cyrodiil that we saw in Oblivion. Luckily, I will have Oblivion resources to draw on, but the province has changed much since the timeline of that game. I'm thinking that the over-arching quest would be to reinstate Talos worship throughout the Empire and convince the Emperor to resume the war against the Aldmeri Dominion. However, I'm not sure what changes should be made to Cyrodiil (because of the Great War and the Oblivion Crisis) and how the Dragonborn should go about his quest. Some thoughts include:
-An underground Talos cult undersiege in Sancre Tor by the Thalmor, using the ruin's traps to fight off the elves
-Bringing Heimskr to the dilapidated, unabandoned Chapel of Talos in Bruma and casting the elves out of the city to revive the preachings there
-A quest to retrieve the Knight of the Nine armor from where the CoC left it (prior to his apotheosis as Sheogorath). The armor is enchanted like Wuuthrad to kill Elves, drawing on Pelinal's battle with the elves
-War-torn and battered Anvil with great anti-Elven sentiment
-Kvatch reconstructed since the Oblivion Crisis with a CoC/Hero of Kvatch cult similar to the Talos cult (half believing he was simply a great hero, the other half a Sheogorath cult?)
-A quest from the Arcane University to recover the various arcane implements the Thalmor stole during the sack of the Imperial City
-Khajiit warriors, secretly in the service of the Aldmeri Dominion, trying to take control of Leyawiin and its region
-Thieves' Guild quest to recover the Ancient Coin Collection of Fort Sutch
-Blade's Quest to visit the sacked and burned Cloud Ruler Temple and the ability to bring your Blades with you
