What city or town do you feel uncomfortable in?

Post » Mon Aug 19, 2013 8:21 pm

Not really what your least favorite city is, but what city (or town) do you try to avoid, or just gives you a weird feeling? Like a churning in your stomach? For me it's Riften, it just feels so scummy there I'm paranoid someones going to try and pick my pocket.

Morthal, the biggest backwater cesspool I think I've seen in any TES game so far. I don't know how it can be considered a town when it's smaller than the parking lot outside my house. It doesn't really have any shops at all and honestly it's right next to a Vampire cavern, so those kids who like to run about...

I suppose it would be Morthal. I don't care for swamps very much.

Markarth, Riften, and Morthal.

Markarth and the Reach in general is just a painful place for me. It's sooo boring. Riften is just too...you know...it has a different feel to it.

Without a doubt I feel uncomfortable in Morthal. The village is worthless. There is nothing of value there.

markarth for sure. they made everyone in that city unlikable. Also too many "random" occurrences that aren't random at all. I have to just keep clicking out of conversations. I don't like being forced into quests. As for Riften? I don't think it's scummy feeling, but the same, oh look, it's that guy who tries to bully me, oh look, now it's that stupid chick trying to extort that poor guy, oh look, it's that guy who says I've never worked a day in my life (even though i dont steal?). ugh. Do they just sit there accosting everyone who enters the place?

Morthal, the most useless town. I would even take Winterhold without the college over Morthal. At least they have a general store.

Depends on my character's alignment in the Civil War. As a Stormcloak, I feel like I'm walking into the lion's den in Solitude.... and vice versa inside Windhelm.

And for Mara's mercy, I'm not intending to hijack this thread and turn it into a CW discussion!

Markarth. It took me a looooong time before I learned how to find my way in that city, and all those winding passages made me feel sick. And that creepy keep with all those machines in the background. Imagine living there, no thanks.

It's a little better these days when I've gotten more used to it, but I still don't like to be there.

My Stormcloak characters (or my current, who hasn't picked a side yet but kills any Thalmor on sight) usually don't feel very comfortable in Solitude. I don't mind it though.

Umm... like most of them? I may just be a hermit but...

Markarth : Too dwarven in a game with no existing dwarves, and it just is soo jumbled and the forsworn forced quest. Plus the guards their are always jerks

Morthal : Too plain and rather pointless... rarely go there.

Falkreath : Love the area around it, but typically only do the city itself if I want the Ring or Hircine or to do Clavicus Vile's quest.

Windhelm : Too prejudice.

Solitude : Too grand... until recently I hated the Imperials also, I recently have flipped a bit.

Winterhold (as a city) : Pointless

I'd say I spend about 80% my time within Whiterun hold if not the city itself. I like the accessability of merchants near the house there.

Dawnstar is alright, and Riften I end up needing quite a bit... and I kinda like it there though don't know what for.

Markarth. Because cannibals, corruption, Silver-Bloods, Forsworn, Molag Bal, heights, Dwemer ruins, and Degaine are not the type of things that make me feel comfortable.

Probably Rorikstead, i always feel like an outsider, that i'm being watched & that there is some conspiracy going on as to why the crops grow so well. I still suspect that Bethesda removed some sort of quest there to uncover, that they sacrifice travelers to some daedric Prince.

Just because i'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me :D

There is something very "off" about Rorikstead, I agree.

Windhelm. Completely infested with modern day savages trying to emulate the Old Ways... but in a corrupted heretical way..

I assume I'm one of the few who feels the most comfortable in Windhelm.

The harsh cold...the depressed and dark atmosphere, and those streets when it's night time...beautiful.

Markarth however...I have just entered and I already got into trouble with a bunch of corrupt guards.

Dawnstar. I always fel like I'd rather be.... anywhere else. Except for two quests, I forget that place even exists.

Markarth. Sleeping on stone beds apparently makes the town very cranky.

The first time I entered the city, I knew it was trouble. It often makes me wonder how many people reloaded their first game to save the girl.

Runner up: Winterhold.
